Technically, the tear-inducing chemical spread is severely reduced when onions are wet, since it’s water-soluble. It’s also practically non-existent in lower temperatures. So if you attack Kepa-type monsters with Ice magic, they should get a debuff that prevents them from harming you 
Wearing goggles are useless against Large Kepa… Except if you have very bad eyes right?
Who wears goggles over their eyes? Fashion is all about shedding tears.

I remember referring to them as onions during the first episode of my let’s play then this sign just embarrassed me in front of my viewers. ;~;
