We need to talk about the Wizard Rebalance

As I see it, it’s a balance between swords and ranged classes.

Clerics are a mixed bag, but mostly in group play they aren’t targeted.

Melee clerics have less consumables used overall plus ways to avoid damage.

See, swords have to go in melee range and this means without a doubt being hit.

This means durability loss. Repair bills.

The cost of arrows would make archers have a fee too. They however, still get hit.

The consumables for mage spells have always been there, just not used.

After nearly 2 years of having no real costs for spells, now it bothers you?

Silver sinks are vital to keeping the player economy balanced.

If a wizard has no costs at all, it’s instantly a better farmer.

wiz are actually better farmers because you can group mobs and double their drop/exp not because of the cost of anything.

after all you can make a SR with good gear and run around fast ohko everything and saving your time.

Can someone explain the changes made to Drain and Ghastly trail? I don’t understand a thing with google translate XD

I totally agree, but this isn’t the solution, especially with the current weight system.

Applying costs just to use skills is an annoyance more than an effective balance measure. I really hope they revert the change, and the players shouldn’t be compliant with a bad change such as this.

What should have happened is a removal/rework of the other classes that have costs associated with skill usage (not including shops) and better implementation of silver sinks and re-evaluation of current silver making methods. One of the key issues I see is low entry for alts to make silver (events, Saalus, dungeons) without investment being required, which further feeds into the problem of alts supporting an expensive main.

The problem with not enough silver sinks is more complex, and requires a more complex solution than adding an annoying limitation.

I’m hoping for something else that’s already possible within the game: Attribute that adjust reagent cost.

Makes it so shop skills/group buffs use reagents, but all of those classes are also given the option to learn an attribute that makes the skill only affect the caster for the benefit of removing the need for reagent.
(Yes you’ll ends up paying the cost of the reagents up front to remove the cost, but I feel this is more fair than the opposite case of making the skills self-buffs with attribute + reagent to make it group buff)

no need to, it is but a response to say that potion throwing is an established general idea as your comment made it sound like the concept was specifically from RO that people should move on.

Where you got this ?

@alavien1 What happened to the primus staff?

i guess he want the current numbers.
in Itos drain add 50 dark damage to your attacks, kindly a joke.

I hope it wont add 50damage for sphere now… it would be still useless

staff wating for stage 10 (still need some shards)

does the new fixed cast time (ie Meteor get fixed 3s) still halved by quickcast ?

I still dont get it. So it just absorbs more spirits now? Does it still only apply the damage to auto attacks??
They should make it something similar to enchant lightning, adding dark attack, or an extra line of elemental damage would be nice.

When I read it, I understand it as a bonus +dark elemental property damage (in F1 status window) after absorbing spirits. The old absorb and ‘deal more auto-attack damage’ was removed. The value will be discovered when patch is Live on KTEST.

there is now a good reason why it’s called “pole of agony”

i can’t use this skill’s really small AoE to kill mobs, even if the new frost pillar has AoE damage. the gif shows about 10k-ish damage on an INT spec staff. while a level 5 Pole of Agony can do as much damage with my event windia rod

although it’s kind of good that snow rolling now has a reduced cast time. i think i will be using this more often. though i do wonder if it’s still default capped at level 5 if it was moved to circle 2 and then you rank up to circle 3 cryomancer

i am also new to this hold & attack term. is this a state where the character cannot do anything else while using a skill for a duration of time?

ah… im also worried on the lethargy reworks, i don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing for circle 1 wizards… maybe neutral due to the % changes?

i do wonder how the new ice pike will look like now that it’s an attack ground type skill

Hold & attack should work like fire pillar tho. When the skill just stops the enemy while damaging them.

I am more worried about the scaling of frost pillar tbh, if the scaling is bad it might turn into a second version of fire pillar and then there will be no reason to advance into cry3 instead of pyro2 :/.

subzero shield lvl 10 is something i use though. now if snow rolling can be leveled up to 10. i might reallocate my ice pike into less of an offensive skill (and more of a stun skill, like sleep, and ice bolt [probably might just lvl 1 it since freezing chance is independent from skill level {will probably put excess points to ice wall as well}]) and put it into snow rolling

New fire pillar will have reduced CD as well. The hold & attack is actually a remnant of early days. Original fire pillar CC animation was removed, it was quite funny.

This is the reason mobs are in ‘hold’ when you use fire pillar:

Mob with higher HP might fly to outer space.

New cryo frost cloud pillar inflicts Freeze and deals damage. If you look at their dev blog video, you will count 1 hit every 0.5s.

So fire pillar will be just another dps skill? Well that just pure lame. They are changing all the unique skills into normal boring skill. Glad they add knockback attribute on firewall and overheat, could see some use for firewall now.
