We need a new item called: Material Bag

I haven’t played long and deep enough into the game to know if such an item already exist. But if it hasn’t, then we seriously need one.

Just a rough suggestion but you get the idea: this Material Bag will be greatly in demand when the FULL content (lvl 600?) of TOS is released. So many monsters, so many materials and how many times can we expand the storage? I haven’t expanded it before but just taking a brief look at it, seems like i can expand it by 6-7 times giving me 60-70 squares more?

And that’s JUST materials. we obviously gonna want to store other stuff too. But seeing that materials is taking so many spaces compared to any other type of item in TOS, we need a damn bag.

Even if the company simply just wants us to continue expanding the storage endlessly (if we can firstly and a.k.a. sucking our money), there will be too many materials to browse and scroll through. i ain’t gonna feast my eyes on looking through 100ssss of materials looking for said material from my storage. NO no no. Sorting won’t even help. Maybe adding a search function to the storage might.

The weight of cos will still be the same. since we can just put it into the bag and put it into the storage to solve that. Don’t want to suggest an item that is too ground breaking.

So the idea is simple: a bag to store materials. maybe we can have various sizes of it. small bag stores 20. medium bag stores 35. large bag stores 50. and they can only be found from maybe dungeon bosses, etc. BUT i think every new player deserves a small bag in the very least. maybe we can find 1 small bag in a lvl 2 treasure chest or do a quest to get it. and this will be the only bag that won’t be trade-able.

Clearly you haven’t seen the inventory system in FFXIV. I never want to see an inventory system like that again, ever and I really regret leveling crafters in that game so very much.

and clearly we have only seen game contents up to lvl 280 so far. im only at lvl 100+ and im reaching nearly full storage with nearly full weight on my character. yes, expanding storage and taking some time to get myself into researching materials is something i can do. But its gonna be a problem beyond lvl 280 if it isn’t a problem yet for people at lvl 280.

Another reason for the bag is also because how the crafting system works. i have already come across quite a lot of rare equips that need lousier versions, ungraded or common equips as materials to craft said rare equip. and even some of those common equips need to be crafted as well. add that all up and viola - we need to keep and store many materials. that practically makes the player think “hmm…better keep this ingredient just in case” for every new monster and new material he/she comes across in the game.

Unless the game is actually forcing us to always sell and re-hunt for said material. lol…

Oh. I’m not arguing with you that the inventory is going to be a disaster area later on. I’m just saying that the terrible inventory has been one of the top complaints in FFXIV since the game’s launch and the devs just make excuses for why they can’t do anything about it.

I have the same lack of hope for IMC caring about little details like this when they can’t even fix serious issues with the game in a reasonable amount of time.

But eh. If you edit your post, you can move this to the suggestions forum where a staff member might actually see it? Or maybe they won’t see it lol.

Or they’ll just see it, post a generic robotic reply and 2 years later when the servers are closing down, you’ll notice that they didn’t do anything about inventory clutter.

Boy my pessimism is getting bad… this game isn’t filling me with positive happiness like I had hoped =/

my bad. didn’t catch the tone of your message. thanks. i just edited and moved it to the suggestion forum.

But the game does have add-on support so maybe some add-on dev will create a way to sort the inventory in a cleaner way :stuck_out_tongue:

is there a list of TOS/Developers Approved Addons? i dont want to get ban without even a single intention of cheating the game.

Unfortunately add-ons are in a grey area right now. We know that the exp viewer and map viewer has been okayed. The rest of the add-ons are not ‘officially’ approved so it’s use at your own risk.

Plus there were confirmed security and loopholes with the add-on system so, even if an add-on advertises it only does a certain thing, it may be doing other things that are not okay that you can’t actually know unless you can read computer code.

IMC basically said that add-ons that only read data that the players have readily available to them is okay to use. Whereas anything that automatically does things for the player or assists the player in doing things that they couldn’t normally do themselves without the use of the add-on are NOT okay.

So yeah… aside from the exp viewer and map viewer, it’s use at your own risk.

The current inventory UI does need some work. Or at least please fix the filters, I can’t seem to get any text filter to work except talt. It will be really great if it can follow how websites/mobile phones do their UI, offer 2 types of display, grid based and list based.

Grid based is basically icon tiles like what we have now. List based can be sorted by alphabets, enabling the player to quickly get to the material he wants to use for vendoring or crafting.
