We don't need a "report bot" button!

As the title says - we don’t need a “report bot”. What we need instead is fully functional report system.

Today IMC posted news that they banned “1,394 bot accounts in the order from the most frequently reported”. I am pretty sure that there’s at least dozen legit players that just got “frequently reported”. Players often get salty over some stupid stuff like KSing and hitting that “report bot” button. And now when IMC showed that they ban people based on amount of reports they will abuse “report bot” button even more.

So as I said - we need report system instead. We don’t need to invent it, almost every other game with report button is using it. You hit report button and you asked why are you reporting this player with checkboxes like “offensive language”, “spamming”, “afk in a dungeon”, “Holding Z for too long” and of course “bot”.

Also to filter those salty people add categories like “unskilled player” (You are so bad at this game I’m gonna report you!) and “Kill stealing” that will serve as a indicator that this report is not valid. It’s up to IMC to decide what is bannable and what is not.

We should be able to report others not only for being a bot but also for other causes.

PS: Also we can’t report chat spammers, that’s a problem too.

TL;DR: “Report bot” button is bad and abused. Instead we need just “Report” button with checkboxes.

Actually, they didn’t just send out an automated ban to everyone who got reported a lot. They investigated them based on order of reports and if they found evidence banned them. This is pretty much common sense.

Also, they have specifically stated that YOU will be get banned if you abuse the report feature fraudulently too often as they do investigate it.

It’s pretty clear they did ban based on the number of reports. Got someone you don’t like? Get your guild to report them. GG they get banned.

+1 for Report Bot button
I always use it on KS’er or AFK’er ( in mission )

Please, do this. Do this and get banned. The community needs to be cleared of people like you.

This is exactly why it’s a broken system. This ass hat is using a report “BOT” function on KS players.

This guy believes people should be BANNED for attacking monsters in game.

This community is disgusting.

Given that you are the guy who advocates abusing a useful system to throw a tantrum, I agree.

Didn’t you notice this was sarcasm? He’s just trying to make his point, not actually going to get his gang together and mass-report you for fun…

It’s a hypothetical scenario. I’m an antisocial player in that I don’t want to play with others, the amount of times people case after me going “HAY PARTY PLZ!”.

What’s stopping these people reporting me for them being salty? They can report me for ignoring them.

I agree with the “checkboxes” thing, but I don’t like how you opened the thread with something that sounds like “We don’t need a report feature at all”. You made pretty clear that you think otherwise, but from the caption it seems that you don’t want to get anybody reported for anything, lol. :open_mouth:

I also like the feature of “reporting” someone for beeing unskilled (example League of Legends) because it gives me some vent to my aggression and toxicity against that player, even if I know that this report is going to end up not actually doing something except giving a little influence for the matchmaking of that guy.

The fact that IMC checks the reports and will ban people for abusing the system prevents them from falsifying reports. It’s exactly like reporting crimes in real life. Imagine that.

But it did catch you attention, didn’t it? Like “Hell, I’m gonna open this topic right now and tell him why he’s so wrong… oh…”

Of course it did. You evil, calculating devil :rage::smiling_imp::heart_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Also, read the edited post, I added a section to it, about why I think it’s a good system.

Funny, when I was writing this topic I was thinking exactly about LoL and how it was done there. Spent quite a bit of time playing that game.

It was already in an old discussion that this “feature” can easily be misused and lo and behold, it will be (or has already been).

  1. reporting bot when someone ks
  2. reporting bot for afk + pet (not against terms of use)
  3. reporting bot for afk + holding z (not against terms of use)
  4. group of people report a person because they dont like him (worst use case LOL)
  5. create dummy accounts for reporting (when game goes f2p), someone can potentially create a bot that creates accounts and reports people.
