The only thing I know about Wakfu is from an uh… animation… and that didn’t really say much about the game.
I only played wakfu during the open beta (back in the 2011), and only few hours when it went live, just to find out that it’s not the same game anymore. Everything was pretty close to nice and balanced during beta but on the release they decided to ruin everything. And I was so determined to start playing that game too when the beta ended 
Basically they decided to be greedy and do all three of the basic monetizing models at the same time. Subscription, p2w cash shop and op character of the month. And it was so blatant too. Suddenly on the release, was it Iop that was way overpowered compared to rest, with only one other viable option? The rest were nerfed to oblivion for no proper balancing reason to make sure many will pick it. You could easily guess which character they were going to nerf next while buffing some other “for balancing purposes” and the cycle repeats. This works on subscription based games as long as your customers are willing to start another character.
I don’t even feel like commenting their subscription pricing (when you take into account that they implemented cash shop too) or the nature of cash shop items. It makes me sad whenever I think how fun the beta phase Wakfu was and how it got utterly ruined when the game went live 
Oh trust me it got worse and worse
I played from 2010 - early 2016
They eventually went f2p with a “Token” system similar to this game. Nerfed EXP, nerfed drops (both of which were already bad to begin with) and the late game dungeons progressively became 1 - 2 hour (if you had the right team) to even longer if you didn’t know what you were doing.
Only to get NOTHING from drops literally nothing not even a shitty material from the boss
A lot of us got tired and quit some of us around tree of savior being announced started to spread it around since it looked similar in terms of isometric gameplay (not turn based but oh well)
What, how could they decide to nerf the exp even more? The leveling curve became so steep after the beta that I gave up and didn’t even try longer than you could with f2p area (was it like one demo map and very limited interaction with those who paid the subscription?). Some of that company’s big bosses must be totally greedy retards to think it was a good idea.
Actually the similar looks was one of the things on ToS that caught my attention at first. While it’s not turn based, it was advertised that you needed some tactics to kill bosses and to avoid their attacks. I got an impression that the developers wanted to go more in that direction but probably the player feedback ruined it and it got watered down to what it is now (I haven’t played to high levels yet so I don’t know if some cool stuff in that sense is waiting for me). ToS is still really enjoyable game to play even though it might have had more potential combining some good oldschool elements with more challenging strategy elements. Apparently bullet hell type attack patterns had some problems with networking or some other technical reason why they didn’t implement them(?).
At least during the first 100 levels, there’s been only one or two bosses that have moments when they are immune to attacks. There could have been more monsters and especially bosses that needed timing when to attack, more safe zone-danger zone patterns where you need to jump from one safe zone to another to move around, and double bosses where you need to kill the weaker one fast because it’s draining up all your mana or gives heals to the bigger boss. I’m hoping to see stuff like that on later levels and it wouldn’t have been a bad thing if I had encountered few bosses like that already
