Viable Shield Fencer?

If I was to plan out a shielded fencer would rodelero provide enough survivability utility in the form of the knockbacks from shield charge and the magic dodge from slithering?

If I were to do this swordsman c1, pelstata c1, ???, rodelero c2, fencer c2 what should I stick between pelstata and rodelero?

Would attaque composee work in place of skyliner since I am not taking highlander even though it has a much higher sp cost?

I guess my question just comes down to if rodelero has enough utility to be a viable replacement to taking highlander if I want to be more survivable. Would the fencer c2 do a decent amount of damage?

Yes.
But Rodelero is mediocre in terms of damage and a bit half4ss in terms of defense. Rodelero has CC, but the animation is a bit slow, which means it’s hard for you to land a hit (except against mobs ofc).

Moreover, IIRC, Slithering’s magic immunity was moved to c3 based on the patch from weeks ago. Big turnoff.

If you insist to keep playing Rode c2:
Sword c1 > Peltasta c1 > Highlander c2 > Rode c2 > Fencer c1

If you change your mind :
Sword c1 > Peltasta c1 > Highlander c2 > Peltasta c2 > Dop c1 > Fencer c1
Sword c1 > Peltasta c1 > Highlander c2 > Peltasta c2 > Fencer c2

Fencer synergize well with Highlander. Fencer’s Lunge will allow you to deal more damage with slash type attacks. Highlander has plenty of slash attacks. Lunge + Cross Cut + Skyliner = beast.

You can also deal crazy damage if you combine Lunge + Cyclone.

Nope. Skyliner is powerful because it deals 50% more damage if you use Cross Cut before. The damage is even crazier if you use Lunge before Cross Cut. You can keep the bonus damage as long as the Lunge & bleeding duration from Cross Cut is there. Not to mention the small SP cost.

In the other hand, Fencer has Attaque Coquille for bonus damage with pierce attack. Attaque Coquille & Composee make a good combo. But the SP cost…I don’t think it’s worth it. You can deal more damage with Lunge-Cross Cut-Skyliner with much smaller SP cost.

Thanks for the info and feedback.

If slithering’s magic immunity got moved to c3 that really does hurt. There isn’t much to the class besides the utility it can provide but if those are hard to land and relegated to c3 for the magic immunity then much of the appeal is lost. I’ve looked at the patch notes and all I saw was that the enhance attribute for slithering got moved to c3 which is just more damage.

Ideally I would have liked to do well enough with the more shield oriented classes but they are in a bad spot right now. If slithering still gives its magic immunity in c2 then I might try shoving those two highlander levels into the build while keeping rodelero at c2. If it really did get moved to c3 I might as well just drop the class.

Peltasta and Rodelero need some love.

Consider Sword1-Pelta1-Barb3-Fencer2 and use Flanconnade as a no-cd skill instead. It’s akin to combo-monk type of build, where in PvE you are a great tank (with 2 provokes and 4 stuns) and can do a lot of dmg via a skill rotation like Lunge-Seism-Cleave (or longer), while constantly hitting with a no-cd skill and buffing own defence at the same time - your no-cd skill attack teporarily increases your block, which is a synergy with shield. And you do have an agression buff should you decide to take shield down and use a dagger.

Would probably be bad in PvP tho, but only good swordsmen in PvP atm are Corsair, Cata and Dopel.

shield-fencer is quite famous in krToS

Not sure is it magic immunity or % damage increase were move
(i ask some one in forum he say it is % damage increase were move)

what kind of fame?

If Slithering’s magic immunity moved to C3 Rodelero would back to be useless again. @Erokhi @frould Are there any way we can verify this? Thanks first.

Slithering’s damage attribute was moved to C3, not the immunity which is built into the skill itself. That’s still C2.

Barbrian would be a good choice too? I mean, everyone can take barbariam and his skills are nice, especially with a one target/duelist focused class.

There are topics about barbarian getting useless at Lv 250+, since their skills are all based at skill damage and higher lvl mobs got abt 100k hp.

That’s why you have flanconnade. And a party.
Basically, most of the classes will suffer at 250+. Barb is still best for Fencer, much more synergy than Highlander, especially in party situations where you can WarCry effectively.

barb has warcry yes. but 82 second cd…
and all of its skills are high cd so… its up to you
