VGA error - caused by addons

Hi all, just want let everyone know that I believe the vga error is caused by addons (most likely exp viewer).

The reason I noticed this is because we have 3 computer with ToS installed. One PC with no add-on at all is working fine with no VGA error. The other two PC has addon and we are getting VGA errors. We removed all addons and it is also working fine now.

The reason why I am leaning towards exp viewer is because out of the two computer that has addons, one of them only has exp viewer loaded.

I hope this helps and maybe the addon community can figure something out. But for now, running with addons will face crashes.

but some of my guildmates with vanilla tos installed is also experiencing vga errors.

They might want to check their TOS folder to see if they don’t have any remnant addon folder/file that still remains. Addon Manager doesn’t remove all the files.

I’ve never installed addons, still getting errors. Thanks for trying, though.

I have multiple add-ons including the exp viewer yet I haven’t gotten any errors. So yea, I don’t think it’s the add-ons.

they dont use addons from the start and they are still getting the errors

I’m using the following add-ons and I have not crashed once, so I guess it’s safe to assume these are just fine.

  1. Make sure to always remove add-ons before any maintenance
  2. Let your game run at least once without add-ons, then close it.
  3. Verify game cache (even if there’s no issues).
  4. Then re-install add-ons.

*Also Miei’s [Item Drops] add-on has been fully implemented into the game (no more weak light, its now almost the same as the add-on by default).

I only have zoomy addon and i haven’t have any error yet.

I have only what ever the game installs from Steam and it still crashes on me after playing for a certain amount of time. Really don’t think this something caused by addons at all.

It’s probably a mix of both. Problem is that both the addon errors and this new error show the same error message.

However, even if you think you have a clean install, and have “uninstalled” any addons, at ANY TIME, their files remain. This is especially true of the ones that you may have installed before the manager, as simply uninstalling them does not delete the files and it’s a huge mess trying to find them.

“Easy” solution is to uninstall Tree, completely delete the folder, and then reinstall. Simply uninstalling and reinstalling will not delete the problematic files.

However, I’m willing to bet not all the errors are just addons so if you know for sure you’ve never downloaded them, ever, then you’re probably just getting IMC’d.

I completely deleted the folder and reinstalled with no addons and still getting VGA’d on every second map load :slight_smile:

VGA error is also DPK.

EDIT : I have addons installed, but I don’t get VGA’d

But this actually was a clean install. I literally had a hard drive formatted prior to installing Tree of Savior and put it on there fresh. Before installing I haven’t touched this game since like April which I’ve also reinstalled my OS since then too. So I am going to say the addon theory is kinda debunked.
