Venom VS Karacha

Also if you want to get super technical, PvE DPS Swordsmans are pretty much the only class that through gear, gems, and base health, can get away with 0 Con. If that is the case here, you could even argue the Con on the Venom is entirely negligible.

So I mean, we need a bit more information from OP before we assign an actual stat weight.

Karacha cheaper to upgrade

just pick karacha
the poison chance is too low
unless you are a magic attack type that don’t need dex so venom is a better choice

btw
poison effect only work for dagger attack so only corsair fit it the most
and venom cost is very expensive when karacha is much more cheaper

As a venom user on my Chaplain just want to say that I’ve seen the poison from venom do anywhere for 2.4-3.5k dmg per a tick, i cant remember how many ticks it does though or how frequently.
Also its 2% per a swing, not a tick(so enchant fire, sacrament, etc doesnt seem to improve proc rate).

Pretty sure that it doesn’t apply in pvp. From my experience with some weapons that had armor types, they don’t effect pvp for some reason. I’m sure someone else can confirm.

monsters and bosses are in sizes, players wear different armor types

Monsters have armor types too.

The venom should definitely proc elemental damage which would make it pretty significant on Chaplains, but I’m not sure what other stats it might scale with. 2.4-3.5k per tick seems pretty significant. I’d assumed it wouldn’t scale with any stat because Ignition’s burn doesn’t seem to. Is your Chaplain STR or INT?

For those who ask, this is my stats build.

^ this. Go with the one you’ll be using mostly at the moment, then try to acquire the other later on.

i would go venom because karacha full benefits come from having the xbow
so you would feel bad that you didn’t play rogue instead

My chaplain has neither, i do have a bunch of elemental atk gear stacked though. About 120 on headgears, 170 from dagger then 48 from sac/lastrites and another 123 from blessing.
It seems to me the poison is based off the targets hp. I honestly have done much testing with it but it seems higher the targets hp the more dmg it does.
Also not sure if it works on boss, well atleast i dont recall triggering it.

Well my final answer is going to have to stay pretty much the same as my original.

I think we’ve decided that after the proc, Venom is definitely more dps, but depending on what kind of content you expect to be doing, the proc is also unreliable dps, which puts Karacha ahead. I think I personally would use Karacha.

If you were to try to bring your build into ET (Granted it’s not exactly an ET build but humor me), your procs would hardly matter because they would just cause one or two of the mobs you’re AoEing to die faster, the procs wouldn’t actually help you clear the floor any faster. This is the same for leveling or any kind of AoE grinding. The procs wouldn’t actually make you AoE clear any faster whatsoever, just cause one or two of the mobs to die a lot more quickly than the rest.

Against the more commonly farmed world bosses that aren’t alive very long, you likely won’t even proc Venom once against them. Even if you do, it’s hard to say whether a single proc would balance out the drawbacks, especially if said boss happens to be a plate target.

However if you are trying to solo world bosses or kill less farmed world bosses or ensure you’re one of the top dps on someone such as Marnax, then yes, over a long enough single target period of time, Venom definitely comes out to roughly 10-15% more dps than Karacha over a 5-10 minute fight.
