Using a game controller xbox one/ps3

While playing i discouvered you can play with a game controller, which i love and switched to. I used an xbox one controller but also did try it out with a ps3 (with an adapter for it)
One thing I would prefer to see for controller users is maybe a small control guide when you first plug in the controller.
A huge annoyance to me is I couldn’t dash. Not sure if i was just not able to find the control for it or it was just not programed in for the controller.
A lot of menus were impossible to bring up or close, this also made navigating the UI difficult. Options such as selecting items to repair or sell was not able to do with the controller. Remaping skills or items to the option bars would be nice as well too. Something as simple as selecting to log out could not be done.
Another thing i noticed is the prompts did not change from keyboard comands to ones a controller would use (such as backspace to go back)

Game play with the controller is really smooth and transistion from the keyboard to they controller is extreamly nice. I like using the controller in this game just i find there is a bit to much missing and have to use my mouse a bit to much.

I agree with you, I also loved playing with the joypad, but missed some options playing this way.

Here’s to hoping IMC will polish the controls (mouse and gamepad both) eventually…
That said, you can dash - but you have to use the d-pad for it. At least that’s how it worked for me.

I can’t wait to give a try with a controller :stuck_out_tongue:

i played on a wii u pro controller and i love it so far, i could dash with my analog stick didnt had any problems with the controls at all

I enjoyed playing with my PS4 controller. It was actually much smoother than using the keyboard in my opinion (and much more fun!). But it definitely needs some refining. Use of controller is very limited for pretty much everything else besides combat. You cannot assign items, cannot allocate points in the stat window, pretty much anything that doesn’t involve moving around the world, talking with npcs and fighting doesn’t work with the controller. So you are still forced to use the keyboard and mouse for most things.

Btw my Dash worked well with both the D-Pad and the analog stick.

i play with a normal joystick and the D pad dont work =( … the d pad and the analog… both use to mov… =(

a adaptor to ps2 controller

I used x-box controller,works great.

I have played through the entire beta with a 360 controller, and I loved it. The only yhing I’m missing and causes me anxiety is the fact that the game doesn’t use the Y button for anything.

This game demands a way to navigate through the UI using controllers. FF XIV did a marvelous work with that.
