hey folks, i’m going to make a dragoon using highlander and hoplite (i know its not the most commom, but i don’t care, i just want to have fun while grinding :3 ) i just want to know which skills from both classes the dragoon cannot use. for example, dragoon can use cross guard from highlander? or crown? what about moulinet? highlander skills are useable but bring 0 utility except for 1 knockback(you can get it from bash).
you didn’t take Spear Lunge.
highlander bonus apply to 2h swords will be useless and pointles with spears
I don’t see how ‘I don’t care I want grinding to be fun:3’ while you grind knowing that you ruin your character…
but if you really don’t care, and that’s what fun for you. then do it !

Short answer for a lot of your questions is to check the “Required Stance” in the skill tip, if there is any. No requirements means that you can use it with any weapon combination, otherwise the required weapon/offhand loadouts will be shown.
i.e. Dragoons cannot use cross guard with 2h spear, as cross guard requires 2h sword, but you can use every other skill.
why is finestra bad without shield? just wondering
not exactly bad.It isn’t used to its fullest potential, because block is not enabled without a shield, so the block bonus from it goes to waste.

and also if you consider what you lose / gain from taking other class
if you’re not planning to stick with a shield with finestra, when hoever the 100+ crit bonus at C3 can be nice, it’s not really worth it comparing to warcy / frenzy / and seism at C3 barb.
other reason to take hoplite can be spear lunge, but he didn’t even take it in his build.
so finestra without a shield i consider bad, and shield without pelasta (no ability to block, or swashbuckler) is also bad. becouse shield is not really usefull if you can’t use it. for sure.

It isn’t. At all. It’s still a solid skill. Yes, you will be missing some block, but you still get a ton of free critical rate at the expense of losing some evasion. This exactly situations pans out for magic based enemies. Evasion and block are both useless against them, so pop a 2-handed spear with Finestra and go to town.
