My game was working perfectly fine a couple hours ago and i logged off to eat. Tried opening ToS and it updated for 5 secs and said I needed to restart ToS. So I try to open ToS again and it shows that ToS is already open but it’s not. Nothing is running in task manager but steam still thinks the game is running.
I have the same problem. 4h hours i can’t login. 
Same issue waiting for fix. Similar posts happen every day. Please address!
i found a fix, if you go into your steam library goto ToS properties and uncheck the founders server exclusive acess in the DLC tab

I did this and sadly it did not work for me. The game still disappeared although it says its running under processes task manager.
Searched forums some more and found a fix that finally worked after everything else failed.
Uninstalled Avast Internet security and it worked. Adding TOS to its exception rule was not enough.
Uninstall firewall > restart computer > verify cache > play TOS
Use ultrasurf to run the patch then close it.
