Unsure of the Game's Future

Hello all! New person here.

I’ve played ToS for a while now and have fallen in love! But when I’ve seen all of the reviews and such for the game, I remain kind of anxious about where this game is heading.

Also, is there a sort of agreed Community Discord here, or are there still two warring Discords?

All we can do is wait and see how it goes. But giving Itos and Ktos the same/similar up to date patches is a step in the right direction.

Oh hey August! Been a while.

@Madda: I agree,it’s all very up in the air right now.It really starts to get to you when it’s been that way for so long, but I think we’re all trying our best to hold out until the end of the month and see what happens.

And no,no one Discord is universally agreed upon.I think people here are a bit too diverse in their thinking to all get along on one.But sometimes that’s just how it is~

Well. ToS is doing fairly poor, but not really poor enough to warrant dead servers in the near future. If things do look up with the eventual patches this month, they can populate the servers with events/etc.

As for community discords, I’d say don’t join any of them. It’s all drama no fun. Your best bet is to join a guild and join their voice chat program/whatever. Or join all the discords, because who really cares about dumb drama really.

Have a few Bridge projects in the province over. So been away from home a lot the past few weeks, probably some more in the coming weeks as well.

Some of us just like to watch the drama. Its like soaps with less awful acting.

Wait until after the database server merge. I think this was in the works for longer than it was announced because it IS a big update (plus the other things that are required on a day to day basis to maintain a game). I’m not holding my breath that it’s going to be some amazing change or anything, but after that’s done… well for one thing, we should consider it a pretty big update assuming it is up to par with the other version. Secondly, that should free up personnel to work on other projects/issues with the game.

But like I said, I’m not holding my breath on this one.

I suggest to take the game as it is, file reports for bots and bugs appropriately and try not to let the general malaise get to you. The game is a lot of fun if you appreciate it with its flaws. That doesn’t mean they should be ignored though by any means.

Also, finding friends to play and chat with makes a lot of difference. The leveling experience is actually very friendly to party share of quests and such (there’s bonus xp I think from having the right group of classes, but that may just be in dungeons??).

I suspect after the merge we will have a number of issues for a while. But i would rather have the merge than not.

Oh same here, and yes I expect a lot of bugs, untranslated text, mistranslated text, crashes, ect. It should be… interesting to say the least.

Let’s not forget that rank 8 and other content updates are most likely coming really soon as well, to us also cause of the merge. Who knows how much new content, possible performance fixes etc we’ll be receiving in the near future.

I think the future sounds promising when considering what is coming but we’ll see what happens. To be honest I think we’re at that point where it can only get better so I wouldn’t be too worried.

As long as there is no real end game content and continuously improves replayability, a game will die.

pvp? events? (ones with story of sort, not seasonal) dungeon raids? challenging bosses? (a working world boss fight with better AI will do)

There haven’t been much progress since CBT too and many feel pessimistic.

And imo the worst thing they had done is forcing players with “their” game design. Players are selfish people who want a happy experience, and the “nerfs”, “intended as is”, “unrewarding”, “limiting”, and those various game design is breaking the experience.

That said, I’d still recommend this game for everyone to at least try. It’s very fun (until u gets annoyed).

ToS is going strong. Riders of Icarus temporarily supplanted it as the most played MMORPG on Steam, but that’s because it’s new and ToS will be back on top within a couple weeks. We should be getting our biggest patch ever at the end of the month or early next that puts us on par with the Korean version. Rank 8 classes and new content will be coming before the end of summer. I’m uncharacteristically optimistic.
