Unidentified items you find at low levels

So i’m back in the game after having been out since June, there seems to be hunting grounds type gear drop all the time in the regular world even as i’m levelling a new character, this gear is Unidentified but doesn’t seem to have any stats and comes in blue and purple quality, fine so far.

When I go to the Item Re-Identification option at the NPC blacksmith though and put identical items in there they seem to have different and interesting hidden stats that aren’t on the item despite them being identical at a glance.

So what do you do to get the stats that aren’t there? how does any of this new system work? I found the patch notes where they added this system but it all reads like a load of gibberish to me (sorry guy that writes the notes!)

Should I be selling these items off, getting the hidden stats off of them somehow, or disenchanting them at the item dismantle option at the blacksmith?

desperately running out of space, not sure if i’m carting around rubbish or unenchanted gold!

TLDR: Hunting Ground items obtained off monsters have now random stats, once you identify the item those stats are revelead, and at that point you can either keep it, reroll it or destroy it.

Interesting, the items that i’m picking up (level 75, 120) in the field have no stats on them when Identified. but when I go to re identify they have stats. What’s going on with field map identifiable items?

I had that same issue because of one of my addons…can’t remember which one, probably hair enchant extend? Uninstalled that, and the stats started displaying normally.

Ah crap, I might have got rid of some great stuff when I was selling them at first (looked worthless like this until I went to the reidentify screen!) I’ll be sure to get rid of that addon, thank you!! :distinguished:

it’s Tooltip Helper as far as I know, you probably have an outdated version and it’s causing that issue about your items window, remove every addon you have and reinstall them if necessary.
If you stopped playing back in June, you missed some big patches which kinda broke some of the most popular addons (some updated, some lost forever)

Hair enchant extend was the one causing this issue with me iirc.
