Unclickable UI and freeze with Controller (XB1)

We can finally play ToS again, but I encountered a strange problem right after I started in the game.

As soon as I connect my XBox One Controller, the game freezes. So I restarted it with the controller connected, but then already on the login screen I couldn’t select a server or start playing, When I disconnected the controller again, it worked. So after I created my character and joined the field, I reconnected my controller, but the game froze. I disconnected it again and it worked again.

So I tabbed out, reconnected it, and opened the game again, and it works. However, the UI becomes unclickable again so I can’t open options, the inventory or skills.

So I’m kind of forced to play with keyboard instead of using my controller, which is quite sad after I spent two CBTs of ToS with this controller.

I’m getting the same problem. I don’t even have to restart the game, the changes are instant from when I plug/unplug the controller. Changing the UI mode doesn’t do anything either.

Same here. Same Controller. Though I’m using it wirelessly. I have yet to try plugging it with a USB cable.

Are you guys also connecting the controller wirelessly or with a cable?

Right, the background music is still playing and I can hear people casting skills, but the picture freezes.

@eternalvow Do you as well use a xbox controller or something else?

@s.z.gassem I use cable, but it’s damaged so the the controller sometimes disconnects by itself

I have the same problem with my XBox Elite Controller. Any Solutions? I don’t want to buy another controller…

No I don’t think it’s your cable causing the issue, unless I also have a faulty cable (which I highly doubt). Just to be sure, I tested multiple micro-usb cables and they all give the same result. And yeah I’m using an XBox One controller via wire, no wireless dongle yet.

@simonwalz1 Damn, I was hoping using a cable would fix it. Only one thing left to try I guess, which is connecting the controller AFTER logging into the server.

Queue too long though, worth the try imo.

@s.z.gassem Don’t bother, the rsult is the same, I already tried. But it seems that either a lot of people use XB1 controllers or it’s the reason for the problem. No reports from other models. I might find an old one somewhere, let me test it…

@simonwalz1 Oh maaaaan. Well, you saved me some time I suppose. My friend is using a PS4 controller and he says its working fine. Luckily I have one, I’ll try it and see.

i got the same problem too and i am familiar with controller cannot play with it. tried to reinstall controller driver and work around in device manager but seem desnt help at all

It’s working fine with xbox 360 controller, confirmed from a friend. Xbox one users such as me are having problems though

Same issue here with the wireless adapter for the Xbox One controller. Didn’t have this issue during icbt1 and icbt2 so it’s something new.

EDIT: Will add that I did try reinstalling the drivers but no luck.

I can’t seem to bring my older models to work, but I’ll try with my PS4 controller later, perhaps I can then further confirm that it’s an XB1 problem

It’s an Xbox One controller issue for sure. Switched to an Xbox 360 Razer edition and its working with no problems.

Same here, if you’d happen to have a PS 3 / PS 4 or a XB360 Controller use those, they work. Confirmed with PS4 controller

Attempting my PS4 Controller now - XboxOne Wired connection causes game to hate life and crash

XB1 Controller + Windows 8 works. The problem is Windows 10 + XB1 Controller

Yes, I can confirm the problem is with Windows 10 + XB1 Controller

Confirming that Xb1+windows 10 is bad because windows. But PS3/4 controllers both work fantastic.
