Unable to start the game

Gameplay Bug Report Connection / Game Crash

Date and Time : 8/5/15

Bug Description :
Once I click start to enter the game, I get a system error message reading “The program can’t start because XINPUT1_3.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem”. The game then terminates.

I’ve reinstalled the program twice, verified the integrity of the game cache twice, deleted the patch files, and attempted to boot the game through the command screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Steps to reproduce the issue :

  1. Launch TOS on Steam
  2. Press start to launch
  3. The above error message pops.

From what I garner from most guides, the dll can be found in a Directx 9c installer.
Additionally or otherwise, it might help to put a copy of that XINPUT1_3.dll in the game/release folder.

[Added note: I use x360ce, an app placed in that same folder, to treat my controller like a xbox one which makes mapping easier. This program requires and downloads a copy of xinput1_3.dll to the folder when first initialized; so if you’re wondering where to get a safe copy of the dll, albeit a lil’ roundabout, there’s that. Not sure if it’s the exact one needed though.]

That was it! Just had to update my DirectX. Thanks for the help!!
