Ultimate PVE Pure DPS Barbarian Build

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with a pure dps barb build? (i.e. what ranks to pick, how many points into what skill etc. i think i also saw some guy mention going leather instead of plate?) I’ve read lots of threads about people seeing barbs do insano damage but with little insight into the details of the spec. So I was looking for a little help. (I haven’t played the game otherwise I’d know a lot of the detailed stuff, which I dont. please treat me kindly) I’m aware there are builds out on google, but most of the people on here are extremely informed so I’d rather take my chances with you guys then out in the wild.

Disclaimer: if you are going to tell me to use the search function (i’ve done it) or something not related to barb builds, or call me stupid, flame me, etc please just move onto the next thread, don’t waste your time on me. i’ve searched the boards, researched it, but there are lots of opinions etc so I wanted to put them all together and I haven’t gotten the chance to play it yet. so no comments from the “peanut gallery” directed at me or other posters. funny comments are fine as long as they aren’t directed at myself or others. thanks

Disclaimer 2: i dont mind questions directed at me (i.e. why are you so lame/stupid? are you stupid/lazy/lame because you didnt xyz? why does your grammar suck? etc) as long as you provide an idea for a pure dps barb build. But please, no rude remarks, backhanded comments, passive aggressive comments, unaccompanied by an actual build idea/tip/information on this thread

Well, I think Barbarian works best with Two-Handed Swords and One-Handed Spears.

A Two-Handed Sword build would probably have at least Highlander C1 for the Two-Handed Sword Mastery attribute that increases Critical Damage by up to 50%. This lets you take advantage of Aggressor since it greatly increases Critical Rate. Then you could finish off the build by picking Doppelsoldner or getting more ranks in Highlander if you want. (I’m not sure which is better) I have a character with this build in kCBT (currently at Lv 81 and at Barb C2) and it’s working fine so far, although the reliance on basic attacks is very high.

This One-Handed Spear build I’m about to present is pure theorycrafting and is assuming that…

a) The new class advancement system will be kept.
b) The max rank is 8 or higher.

It will need at least C1 Hoplite so you can wield spears in the first place, and at least C2 Corsair for Sub Weapon Cancel/Double Weapon Assault/whatever it’s called now (I’m not really used to the skill name changes yet…). This build would take advantage of both Savagery and Double Weapon Assault to dish out multiple hits quickly since both spears and daggers deal Stab damage. Currently, anything that can quickly deal multiple hits (Stabbing, Fireball, Zaibas, etc.) is really good DPS, so this is why I choose to present this build.

Hopefully this helps a little.

First wait for the final class system, because nothing tells us it won’t changed until the release.

The disadvantages of this build is that you are bound to not getting the extra Crit attribute from Two-handed Sword from Highlander if you are to choose this build. It is easily corrected by going for Hoplite, as you’ll most probably be getting Finestra which will boost Critical Rate. The other disadvantage of this build is that you’ll need to prepare a lot of setups and sacrifice a lot of things to achieve this. You might want to pick Barbarian (as the OP suggested), C2 at the minimum, Corsair needs to be C2 and Hoplite. We’re talking 5 ranks right off the bat here, and getting Corsair itself is already risky if you’re focusing on DPS as it is primarily a support class. Getting it just for the Subweapon cancel won’t get you anywhere in an attempt to deal as much DPS as possible.
