Imo, utls sounds as LoL to me, and this kind of abilities hasn’t their place in a mmorpg… :x
ff14 take a look its a thing. Its also not bad they all have uses.

That’s a crazy amount to think about!
Unless they make it class based, lets say you get a priest and go up to w/e you want, the ultimate would be some sort of heal+cure even if you pick monk or something battle related. But still, it wouldnt be as nice as each class having its own.
I neved played ff14, but you’re certainly right, I had a bad experience with LoL, it could be a reason to my negative answer.

If the game ended up having these “ults” then I’d think Circle-3 class skills should be the “ults.” Since you can only get them lvl 5 – there isn’t anything too ultimate about most of them as they are now.
(They seem on par with previous circle skills in most cases, imo people should be rewarded for going c3 with a slightly more powerful skill – but maybe they are though, I only have icbt exp.)
AGREEED!!..Circle 3 should have at least 1 Really good ultimate…i dont think it would be that hard to balance, just imagine barbarian circle 3 ultimate would have you go on a fenzy or something for a short time
unfortunately right now ALOT of circle 3 skills are unimpressive and some are plain bad.
We do not need “ultimate” skills in an mmorpg. Buffing a single C3 skill per class to make it “ultimate” (read: you must choose this skill if you want to have a viable build) would be completely pointless. The devs are currently working on balancing skills so that no single skill or build is significantly better than another, and this suggestion of buffing a select few skills to make them “ultimate” completely goes against that concept.

I don’t agree. I think they are good as they are…maybe they should be just more useful if they aren’t.
If you don’t like the last circle skill(s) you can still strengthen your previous circle skills and if you don’t want that either just change class and don’t go for c3. If the last circle skills would be something ultimate then you would be forced much more to make circle 3 classes…what would be wrong imo.
I don’t think we need ultimates in any way btw.
@Ayalon @Chebus Just going to point out that the word “slightly” in my original post was very important! xP tbh I am fine with the skills as they are now & do not think “ults” are something this game needs – was just saying in regards to this thread that if the game were to have ults i’d want them to be c3.

I haven’t tested all the c3 skills so I have no way of knowing their usefulness – as it stands though, some of them seem completely a throwaway, which is a shame. I don’t believe it’d be crippling if they had very slightly more raw dmg than some other skills because the other skills would still be more than viable based on types, attributes, elements, or CC properties they may have, ya know?
At the end of it all though i’m not really arguing for anything to change, I just wanna play cbt2. lol. shrugs ;(
@thebloodyaugust : I think a better example would be from FF11. In that game, they had what the player base referred to as “2hours” and it was just that. A strong ability (sometimes) that had a 2 hour long cool down. Seeing as most of the skills in ToS have a decent length on their abilities, it could work.
On paper, it could work. However, that isn’t always the case in practice. It could push a lot of end game players to neglect a lot of classes and stack a specific class for its “ultimate.” I know for a fact this was the case with the NA player base of FF11 for a while in situations such as Dynamis. They would stack Red Mages (to stun lock) and Samurai (for heavy weapon skill damage) to burst down the final boss.
I think that IMC should just look over the current ability set and buff/nerf as needed. Implementing ultimate abilities or anything similar would take a lot of time to design and balance. It’s like asking them to add another year onto the development of the game.
As awesome as they sound, I sadly think that C3 ults would just kindda… demotivate you to ever level anything else that isn’t a class to rank 3. If I were a Wiz - Pyro - Pyro (for the fire pillar) - Ele - Ele, then I would be basically stuck between two choices at Rank 6, because whatever else I pick that’s not Pyro or Ele wouldn’t have an awesome ult skill.
It would kind of kill variety.
There are already skills like those, such as Fire Pillar, Broom Trap, Meteor, Mass Heal (your “map heal”), Energy Blast…
I don’t think we need even flashier skills, nor that every class must have one like of the above I mentioned. Each class has its own feeling and role to fit.
the thing is that the term ult is relative to the other skills of the class. inherently, each class already has its ultimate, it being the strongest skill in the class. what youre introducing is a new mechanic, it reminds me of like dbz combos but mostly little fighter2, so is what you want is just stronger/flashier moves as a reward of mastering a class?
