UI is awful, current control options lacking, why no WASD control?

ToS is a beautiful game. All classes fun to play. But there is one thing that prevents me from really enjoying the game, and that’s the user interface (UI).

ToS’s UI is painful. I’m not sure I understand the decisions behind the current UI schemes, but in the Western market, they are not going to go over so well for mainstream MMO gamers.

This would be easily remedied by allowing users to totally customize the keyboard for their preferences, or just adding the standard WASD functionality that most MMOs use. I honestly can’t think of any reason not to do so, other than to make the game as agonizing to control as possible.

Maybe I’m missing something. Maybe I can tweak the UI to my liking, but I’m not seeing it.

u can use WASD when u change to mouse control

You can switch to WASD movement by choosing mouse controls and you can re-map controls if you’re willing to edit the XML (it’s in the \SteamApps\common\TreeOfSavior\release\hotkey_mousemode.xml for mouse control scheme, keyboard one seems to be hotkey.xml and gamepad is hotkey_joystick.xml).
I recommend Notepad++ for editing.

What we need is some UI to do in ingame (not everyone likes to tinker with game files, plus there’s always a possibility that one of the patches will overwrite that file and flush all your customized bindings - so backing up is a good idea).

That, and extended mouse button support. Right now, you can only bind the mousewheel up/down, no button 3/4/5 and so on. If your mouse supports application profiles and button function assignment, you can create workarounds but at the end of the day they’re just that - workarounds.

if you go to options in-game you can change the UI. Theres four options. Auto, Joypad, Keyboard, and Mouse. Clicking mouse will allow you to use wasd to move. 12345+ keys for quickbar. and mouse to attack / aim. or even click-move.

If you’re creative like my roommate, you’ll realize you can basically play ToS on a giant Gameboy SP if you have a laptop with a numpad. If that’s the case, you can use one thumb to move, and the other to attack and jump with an classic 2 button handheld mechanic.

But I agree, we need the ability to make a custom control scheme / edit current ones.

I think they will let us custom control key soon.
But for now, u can change it in the config file

WASD is simplify worked for FPS or 3rd Person game, chill bro , this is more on 2D-2.5D games, exactly like MapleStory system.
