Two handed weapons are too weak

I dont know where to start writing but I find two handed weapons, specially staffs too weak. Simply any combination of rod + arde or mace + arde is stronger than staffs. The only viable staff in the game is audra because of its freezing utility.
Lets check lvl 170 examples:

Catacombs Staff: 158 matk 201 mamp
We can say this staff gives 259 damage on avarage
It has 1 aoe atk which all staffs have
16 def and 23 mdef which is funny because there arent any damage lower than 500 at lvl 170-220 range.

Maledoom Staff: 286 matk 22 int
Basically 308 damage and 1 aoe ratio.

Audra Staff: 265 matk
The thing about this staff is, it increases al cryo skills by 2 and every ice type damage you do has %15 freeze chance. Only decent staff if u were to ask me.

Catacombs Rod: 194 matk 68 earthatk
This rod gives 262 damage on avarage which is already more than catacombs staff. Also earth atk is a lot more valuable than matk since it makes additional atk like sacrament even stronger.
This staff also gives a very strong bonus of 1292 hp and useless 16 earth property res.
It has a penalty of -643 sp but i dont even think that is a problem since game is not reliant on sp pool, it relies more on sp regen. This penalty is also an advantage for classes like summoner or psychokino since it reduces the %sp spent.
+153 fire damage from arde

Khasti Rod: 214 matk 34 mamp
231 damage on avarage with a bonus of +39 more on cloth armor type targets.
+153 fire damage from arde

Ignition: 192 matk 22 fire atk
214 damage with a chance of burning.
10 spr as bonus.
+153 fire damage

And the most powerful combination that a mage can have:

Catacombs Club + Arde
303 matk from club and 153 fire damage from arde along with 1496 hp on club and 23 sp recovery.

Really?? A cleric weapon and a dagger being the strongest combination for a mage is absurd. On top of everything, using 2 weapons enables you to use 4 gems while using just staff means you have only 2 slots for gems.

TL:DR ------

Its really obvious that Two Handed weapons are way weaker right now.

What could be done to make Two handed weapons better?

  • An atribute that increases your damage while wearing them, such as %10 - %20 which would be visible late game.
  • Making gems have bonus effects when equiped on a two handed weapon.
  • If not damage, give two handed weapons more unique effects like audra has.

While it may be an unpopular opinion, I personally feel it is the opposite, the +x damage mechanic that arde dagger and weapons similar bring just happens to be too strong. It’s only when you factor the arde dagger and other such options in that staves are weaker. Rods + x come with the added bonus of extra stats which is what the staff vs rod balance should be. Need more defense? Rod + shield. Need more damage? Staff. The arde dagger breaks this.

I feel they could cut arde dagger’s provided damage in half if not more and it would still have use in the game. The mechanic is evidently designed for on hit builds in mind, it’s value just happens to be so high that it beats out almost every other weapon combination.

Edit: This applies to every 2h weapon vs 1h + arde dagger.

###Staffs are NOT too weak. It’s just how +fire damage works with spells that is too powerful. How Arde Dagger works makes everyone ignore all 2H weapons in this game unless they are orange quality level 170+.

###If Arde Dagger stopped giving +150 fire damage to every source of damage in the game, including ■■■■■■■ poison ticks (WTF?), then the game would be more balanced and would make sense.

How +elemental damage works in this game seems either incredibly stupid or broken.

You need to see the bigger picture people.

There’s no reason a level 40 dagger should be end-game gear.

Magic is strong enough in this game, no changes for staffs needed.
If anything, Magic damage and CC should be changed/fixed.

Anyone seeing the nerf coming on arde? I can’t but maybe my sunglasses are just too tinted :sunglasses:

That being said, it’s pointless to rant about staffs instead of arde dagger which is just one item.

Press C and stab with it
Deals 150 damage extra as fire

How it works now

150 FREE DAMAGE TO EVERYTHING YOU CAST AND USE

How hat enchants should work

+30 fire damage from a hat
Equip Arde Dagger
Hit with it, deals 150+30 damage plus the physical

How hat enchants work now

FREE++++ DAMAGE++++++ TO EVERY TICK OF DAMAGE TO YOUR OVERPOWERED ELEMENTALIST SPELLS THAT TICK FOR 40 TIMES

Wait, did I understand you right? You can equip rod+mace? Or rod+dagger? And it’s MATK will stack?

Magic is strong indeed, but magic will never be the top damage dealer in this game because it has basically no modifiers except for quickcast, while physical classes has crit and many debuffs that increase pierce, slash, strike damages.

Check videos with end game gears, a fletcher with magic arrow out dpsses frostground easily, what makes magic strong is the crowd control.

I don’t think they will nerf it. It’s bad design but a lot of people would whine over the broken mechanic being the life saver of their build.

It should be nerfed, but IMC simply ignored people and gave hats even more stupid +fire damage +ice damage and made a horrible mistake.

It’s stupid. It’s one of those things people pointed out in the last few closed betas and IMC did nothing.

Im asking for two handed weapon buff because I dont believe that they will nerf arde anytime soon.

Yes basically if your rod has 100 matk and your dagger has 153 fire atk (not physical damage) you will deal 253 damage.

I disagree. Twohanded melee and ranged weapons are significantly stronger than onehanded swords/spears and crossbows. Staves in particular just suck.

I believe you havent thought about arde dagger/karacha/venom and the fact that using one handed weapons gives you 4 gem options while one handed gives you 2

Daggers have 1 gem slot. High rarity 2h weapons usually have 3 slots, while only a few 1h weapons have 3. The only real imbalance is that secondary weapon gems give better bonuses than primary weapon gems.

You are right about 1 handed weapons but I think 2 handed weapons shouldnt be weaker than 1 handed counterparts, there should be + and - in both sides between utility and damage. Curently speaking of staffs, audra is the only viable choice because of utility.

Not true at all. 2H swords are only about 200 damage stronger than some 1H sword and almost ALL the games 2H swords have terrible stats and damage range (for example the LOW end of the damage is 200 but the high end is 500 like what the fuck? can’t it just be 500 to 600?)

2H swords are rare and hard to find.

####For example there is no 2H Catacomb Sword in the entire game and Hell & Heaven has less damage than the Catacomb Spear which makes no sense and it has terrible stats.

  • Physical Attack stat up 117 (IT’S NOTHING and just brings it slightly closer to the pike)
  • Physical Defense stat down 235 (WHAT THE FUCK?)
  • Accuracy stat up 28 (WHO THE FUCK NEEDS ACCURACY)

with

  • AoE Attack Ratio 1
  • Critical Rate stat up 23 (damage stat)
  • Attack Range stat up 10
  • Attack on Large Type Targets stat up 188 (damage stat)
  • stat up 235 additional damage when using [Impaler] (damage stat)

There isn’t even a Catacombs 2H sword. At ■■■■■■■ all.

Compare Lolopanther 2H spear

  • AoE Attack Ratio 2 (TWO?)
  • Accuracy 78 (nice I guess?)
  • Attack Range 10
  • Earth Property Attack 104 (+damage to all skills)

Here’s the kicker: It has 3 sockets and the attack range is better 425~576

Compare it to 2H sword Lolopanther end game

  • AoE Attack Ratio 1 (JUST ONE!?!!)
  • HP 2103 (WHO CARES ABOUT HP!!??)
  • SP 420 (WTF IS WITH THESE?)
  • Attack on Plate Armor Targets 237 (SLASH ALREADY IS 50% PENALTY WHO CARES, WHAT IDIOT MADE THIS WEAPON!?)
  • Earth Property Attack 57 (LESS THAN 2H SPEAR? WHY!?)

The attack range: 350 ~ 651 and here’s the thing, only 2 SOCKETS!

The low range of 2H swords is retarded in this game and I don’t know what the ■■■■ IMC is thinking. Most 2H swords are so rare and hidden we never even see them in the marketplace.
