Trying to play archer

Hi guys. I’m new to this game and i want to try archer. I’m usually a wiz or a cleric player but now i want to try something new. Do you guys know what kind of archer that i can do to do give a very good damage and also the stats and the skills

Well, first of all for Archer you gotta pick if you want AoE and kills nice and tidy on an area or simply destroy with damage for like three weddings in single target.
Archer is generally seen as a single targetter but proper building can easily give them a very strong AoE game on top.

I want to make an AoE archer

Hey hey~

As far as Archer AOE goes, it varies with the different skills. I’ll tell you what class gives good AOE and a rank line to fit it.

Sapper is a rank 3 AOE and multiple targeted class due to Broom Trap, Punji Stake, Claymore, and Stake Stockades. They are strong, but Broom Trap prevails over them all.

Cannoneer is a rank 7 AOE and multiple target class that can be mixed with the other earlier ranks to be more effective AOE-wise. The skills they have include scatter shot, bombing a certain area, and more.

Fletcher has Crossfire which isn’t too bad on dmg. Though, besides Crossfire, you can utilize the other skills, even though they aren’t very AOE-wise.

Falconer could be viable for AOE since bird can actually attack a zone where monsters are, like an AOE skill would. Still trying to determine the worth of this one.

  1. Archer>Archer>Sapper>Sapper>Fletcher>Fletcher>Cannoneer
  2. Archer>Archer>Sapper>Sapper>(Sapper or Fletcher)>Falconer>Falconer
  3. Archer>Archer>Sapper>Sapper>Fletcher>Schwarzer Reiter>Fletcher

Some of the ideas I’ve had from writing this. You can check it out here http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/

Thanks! How about the stats?

If you want an AoE archer, I suggest doing this build:

Archer - Ranger 3 - Fletcher 3

Since you’re new to the game, I suggest having few classes at rank 3 (the case of this build).

The Archer 2 builds are for lvl 10 Multi-Shot and Swift Step Critical attribute, but since Multi-Shot is more a Single target skill, I don’t think it will be worth for you. Getting cycle 2 or 3 in Archer is pretty difficult to level solo, but fine in a party. But is more a single/dual target.

Getting Ranger at rank 2, you gain an INSANE AoE with Barrage but also a single target burst because it have the shotgun effect. If fired close to enemy, you deal 5 hits in a single Barrage. On Ranger 3 your AoE gets even better with Bounce Shot and Spiral Arrow is for a great single target burst.

When you get Fletcher, your AoE and single target Burts become INSANE. Crossfire is your AoE tool, Bodkin Point and Barbed Arrow are your single target bursts.

Since the Fletcher skills of this build have 0s cooldown, the burst is amazing, but you spend lots of SP and crafted arrows.

This is the best AoE build for starters with a great potential in my opinion.

About the stats, since you’re starting, I suggest:

3 STR 1 CON 6 DEX

STR is for more critical damage and physical damage
CON is for more hp, hp is never too much
DEX is for a good critical chance and evasion

For stats: 3 STR and 6 DEX, and CON 1 like the guy above me. It’s better to have these stats, but most importantly don’t forget CON because later on, that hp will be needed for archers all around.

I think this is the right one for me!

That’s the reason why i always die T.T my hp is really low

A little more of theorycraft, since I never played archer, but i saw a lot of videos and read a lot about it too.

I would like to mention that Fletcher skills look amazing, so good that your only problem is not being able to get all of them maxed.
With that said, you have to try to make up for the lack of the ones you’ll not have with other classes skills.

I would leave Bodkin Arrow at 0 and Broadhead at 1. With those extra points you can raise Barbed Arrow to 14 and Magic Arrow to max.

If you get Defense Decrese arttribute for Full Draw, you can already reduce defense by 50%. Of course it’s better to reduce it by 80%, but take in consideration that you have limited amount of points. The reduce in Broadhead is due to the fact that’ll not be spamming this for it’s damage, it’s use is for the bleeding that it’s damage has nothing to do with skill level, only the duration, but since it has no cooldown, you can renew it anyway. And you’ll probably not be spamming Bodkin Point too, since Barbed Arrow gives more damage. Another thing to take in consideration is that you’ll only use defense reduction and bleed on bosses.

Barbed Arrow will be your main single target damage, but in some bosses it’ll only hit once, so you can probably have a good use for another combo: Steady Aim + Magic Arrow
With Steady Aim attribute maxed it gves +134 damage per hit, and Magic Arrow can hit 25 times. Now do the math. The only problem in this combo is that bosses’ll probably move, you have to take care not to let it move too far from the fire.

Of course, since I never played archer it’s only theoretical.

So, what do you guys think ?

Magic Arrow is jsut not that great if you objective moves more than not at all, it’s area is simply too small so you would end getting better milleage from the damage of upgrading the toher skills you know are going to work every time outside of some very specific scenarios.

Magic Arrow is a stronger version of Flare Shot (but with limited number of hits), and I had a Scout before.
To maximize Flare Shot’s damage was very hard, since the AoE is too small (as @Jariu said). I think Crossfire outclasses Magic Arrow, and the defense reduction of Full Draw applies only to the target that received the shot AND must connect with other enemy (which is pretty hard). So I think the Fletcher’s 80% defense reduction is way better.

I think even Pyro’s Flame Ground outclass Magic Arrow…
