Tree Of Savior: What's wrong and how do we fix it?

strong textFirst of all, let me say that I really enjoy Tree Of Savior and for the most part have not been disappointed by it. But like every MMO, especially in its first year, there are problems. Some very small, some pretty significant. I know I could list off everything that people have already said before, but for now I’m just going to go over a few issues I’ve personally encountered and my suggestion what can be done about them.

TOKENS: I understand f2p games need to make money and a VIP type service is usually the go-to method. I like the idea of tokens and that they can be traded, but I think the issue lies in what not having a token limits you to. I think this may be the only MMO in history where being able to trade with other players is dependant on whether or not you spend $10 a month on a premium service. This is something that I am absolutely 100% against. I also really don’t agree with stat increases of any kind. I believe that any sort of premium service should not provide any kind of pvp advantage. All players, paying and non-paying should be on the same playing field at the cost of maybe the non-paying player working a bit harder to achieve the same goal.

Solution: Remove the trade restriction and the movement speed increase. In their place, add something to help promote grinding such as +20% drop rate and silver per kill. This way there is still incentive to be a token user, but it is not necessary to do basic functions and will provide no pvp advantage.

MOB DENSITY: With the exception of a few areas, the mob density is a bit…thin to say the least. When you and 1 friend are the only 2 people on a map and for 15 minutes you can’t find a single quest mob, you’ve got a problem. This is imo the single biggest problem in Tree Of Savior. Because of the density, the game has “dedicated grinding spots” such as Tenant Garden, Demon Prison, and Bee Farm. If you are not within range of one of the designated grinding areas, it is nearly impossible to grind. You spend far too much time playing where’s Waldo and not enough time actually killing mobs.

Solution: The mob density and spawn rate need to be universally increased and by a large amount in most areas. In increase of up to 100% is absolutely mandatory in some areas, where as popular grinding areas can probably remain untouched. This will give players the choice to grind all the way to the level cap if they so choose and give the rest of us a less painful experience by allowing us to grind wherever we want instead of fighting over mobs in the grinding zones.

STAT RESET: I can understand why you can’t buy stacks of these as it would allow you to change your build on the fly and invest highly into damage early on for faster leveling and changing it later on to your desired build. Though sometimes mistakes are made and those players should have to remake their character for something so minor.

Solution: Upon reaching rank 3-4 a character should be given 1 free stat reset per account that must be used immediately. Having a reset this early on will help new players get adjusted to their first few classes and adjust their stats correctly while also teaching them to be better prepared with their future characters as this reset would only be once per account and would not work on other characters.

CLASS RESET: Here’s the controversial one. Say you max out your character and realize that early on you made a very poor choice that provides no benefit you your final build. As of now there is nothing you can do except make a new character. Though I don’t believe these should be a total reset, I feel that there needs to be a small margin of error that you can correct.

Solution: Add a class reset to the cash shop. This would be purchasable only once per character and would be used to swap out 1 class. This would allow people the freedom to change 1 class that may be useless to them, but not completely change their build. Say you went highlander at rank 2 but later on realize the skills are useless and would rather have peltasta’s taunt. You could swap highlander for peltasta, but after that you could not change any other classes.

I’m sure I could think of much more but I’ll leave it at this for now. These are the biggest problems I’ve encountered and feel that anything else is kinda minor compared to some of these. Feel free to leave your thoughts and what you would like to see changed as well.
