This is a recent issue since the last patch. Normally my internet speed (wi-fi) is about 20 down and 4 up. I don’t have any issue with any other program or game I play what so ever. As soon as I initiate Tree of Savior (don’t even need to connect to server) my wi-fi speed goes down to about 1-2 down and 0.5-1 up. This makes the game unplayable.
I have tried this with a speed test running in the background, and the second that I shutdown Tree of Savior, my speed returns to normal. Help would be greatly appreciated on this issue.
Don’t think it was the game. I’ve no issue. probably your laptop problem
Are you using a USB plugin or PCI card? I’ve seen wifi cards blue screen computers just because of the drivers; never hurts to make sure they are the proper/updated driver for you wifi card. I’ve also seen cheap wifi cards where if you just have them a centimeter off of the “sweet spot” you will lose 80% of signal instantly, but if you moved the computer where the wifi card was in its “sweet spot” would have the same signal as a wired connection.
I’ve also seen where a squirrel will chew on incoming lines to the house sometimes gnawing into the legs that send signals causing your connection to fluctuate depending on certain circumstances; usually in this case you will never have max speed and only achieve half of the normal speed if any at all depending on the amount of damage so this doesn’t sound like a very likely case for you since you still get your 20 down in situations. (true story, took a couple days to determine that the incoming line was chewed on)
If its nothing to do with your actual hardware I would recommend manually setting ports, but it seems like there is an issue with that. I’ll link the thread TCP/UDP ToS Ports
It’s pretty sure it’s not a hardware issue, and that it’s software related to ToS. The ONLY time it ever happens is when ToS is running. The VERY SECOND ToS is activated my speed goes down, the VERY SECOND ToS is closed my speed returns to normal. I’ve tried turning off my router’s firewall, do not have windows firewall on, and anti-virus is off. I have an ASUS AC1900 PCE-AC68 Dual-Band Wireless PCI-E Adapter. My drivers are updated.
Logically speaking, there are a few ways this could happen:
- ToS’s network interaction with your wifi driver(highly unlikely)
- You are making a speedtest while ToS is loading(you’re probably not that stupid)
- Some kind of virus on your PC somehow attached itself to ToS launcher?
- Your antivirus software’s interaction with ToS. Have you tried shutting off your antivirus or running ToS in safe mode with networking?
Either way, your post does not contain enough technical information to guarantee that :
The issue is 100% caused by the game.
If the numbers you indicated are the network connection values and not a ‘speedtest’ value, then the problem would definitely be something related to your wi-fi drivers or OS. ToS does not have the required permissions to make such changes to your computer so that can’t be it. Try reinstalling the drivers completely.
Use wired for gaming if possible.
IMHO, do not trust wireless. Ever.
The fact that it ONLY happened when the game was running would suggest otherwise. If you actually cared to read my post you’d see why, and that I did turn off my anti-virus, and did reinstall my drivers >.>. The problem is fixed. I tried reinstalling Tree of Savior, and haven’t had an issue yet, so IT WAS Tree of Savior.
lol funny how you just shot down every single comments here like you don’t want people to say anything to you. do you even care what people think? or is this thread purely for staff?
No. To be honest, I don’t care really. This comment was obviously meant for the staff, and how I was having an issue (which I have found others that had the same). I shot down one… ONE comment. ‘Every’. K bud.
it took you 13 days to think up that brilliant answer of yours. lmao
