Tree of Savior is a free-to-play MMORPG that was released internationally in April this year. Originally created by Nexon, the game gained some popularity and hype before being criticised for its lack of polish, bugs and issues with some of its gameplay systems. Recently, a mobile version of the game was announced, with a preview version to be unveiled at the G-Star expo this year.

The game was available for playtesting at the Nexon booth, with most elements true to the original PC version. The version available at the expo has only two base classes available to play, the Swordsman and the Archer, as opposed to the four base classes on the PC. After completing the tutorial, most of the game looks and feels the same, with most of the original graphics, creatures, and maps preserved.

However, as with most Korean mobile games, the mobile version of Tree of Savior also includes an Auto-Walk and Auto-Fight system. The Auto-Walk button at the bottom of each quest will automatically walk you to the quest giver or quest area, making it convenient for players to complete quests on the move. Clicking on the ‘AUTO-FIGHT’ button on the bottom right allows the characters to keep farming and fighting nearby monsters over time, using skills and movement as appropriate. However, due to its stupid AI, it is unable to handle difficult battles and is only good for farming low-level areas and creatures. Apparently, the AI will also chug potions like water, but it is limited to only 5 potions, which can be automatically refilled with a visit to Goddess Statues. While farming, the mobile version of the game also now includes a chain-kill bonus experience system, where killing multiple monsters in a row provides an experience bonus to help speed up levelling.

In terms of new content, the mobile version has also revamped its items with new crafting and level up systems. The mobile version now has a new currency known as ‘Monster Dust’ (몬스터가루) will be used in new item recipes, item levelling, summoning boss monsters and in opening chest randomly found on the maps. These secret treasure chests apparently also can hold skins, costumes and other new decorative items for characters.

The new item systems along with the new ways to play the game means that Tree of Savior mobile might be an actual successful remake of the original. Many Korean game reporters have been saying that the game suits a mobile interface more than the PC version, and are looking forward to playing the game now. Unfortunately, no mention has been made of the release date, making the wait for the game feel even longer!

“The gameplay suits a mobile interface more”

Those Korean Reporters who said that are idiots. No it doesn’t. Just the graphics do.

The functions they added means this will probably be like every other auto walk auto fight mobile game where the battles are more about watching things than anything else instead of ToS where skill might actually make a difference, just with a ToS skin.

No thanks, I don’t want my mobile to rest in peace as soon as a few horde of monsters appears or a city is full of people.
Wouldn’t imagine what will happen in GvG or PvP playing ToS there.
