Your end game is going to be based on Pvp and Guild wars if u want reach end game in a week…Pvp is generally always badly balanced…
I just want to be done with leveling so I can sit in Prontera all day long~ ^o^
They aren’t but it’s a game made for a different type of person, and this game may just not have what you are looking for.
I never said I want it in a week. A week is of course way too fast. But a year is way too long.
I can accept 1, 2 maybe 3 months. I mean I did play WoW for over 4 years so I kinda know what things are rewarding. But a whole year to get ONE (In numbers 1) character to max level? Sorry but that is way too hardcore and MANY players won’t play this game if something like that will be the case.
Like I said, you can’t pull that today anymore. Maybe you were able to pull something like that back then but things change.
Grinding is boring in any genre of games, most people have better things to do with their time then kill the same mob 1000+ times for 1 level up (this is why pservers became so popular in RO, and why botting is popular in every mmorpg). Progression on the other hand is fun if the game allows you to make progress at a noticeable pace, I’d much rather have some challenging boss fight or short challenging quest i need to complete to progress 1 entire level then have to do hours and hours of grinding for that same 1 level up. This is why Moba games like Dota are so popular right now, they took the battlegrounds from WoW, removed the level and gear grinding, and let you enjoy the fun PvP stuff right away. Then games like LoL and HotS added a progression system to it so you can enjoy the fun part of the game, while also making progress to unlock more playable characters or other things.
If you’re solo grinding you’re doing it wrong. @_@ Well nothing wrong with solo grinding either, it’s just a different take on leveling.
Not an excuse for implementing grinding though. Grinding is, from a design perspective, one of the worst choices you can ever do for a game. Grinding only appeals to a very small amount of players and also not everyone likes to just invite any random person into his group or has friends or even gets accepted into the group. Even when you play alone you should be able to have fun in a game, but with the grinding aspect only very, very few players will have that fun. Maybe 1 out of 10k? Dunno. At least it’s not much.
Translates to you don’t like it, so they need to change it.
I absolutely hate channels, but you know what it is here I can hope they remove channels and have one big server, but it is what it is and I am making do with what is.
You do realize MOBAs were around long before WoW right >.>? Look up Aeon of Strife.
Also, this is a CBT, if they ‘drastically’ changed the exp rates from the Korean one, then obviously the same could be done in reverse =.=. What we are currrently testing isnt set in stone other than the base framework stuff. I am sure with enough legitimate feedback around exp rates, IMC will tweak accordingly. Dont be that doomsday guy and act as if nothing will change >.>.
Also, the grind doesnt really seem that bad for me so far, though I can see how it would affect the more casual players enjoyment.
Then again, I have been grinding and exploring and 100% every area so that I can get silver to upgrade all my equipment, but I know not everyone will enjoy that style.
Ill wait a bit before I come to a conclusion though.
Edit The latter half of the post is directed at OP, not you Chilly0123.
It’s more the fact that we’ll be grinding when open beta is out… don’t need to burn ourselves out now. Grinding serves very little purpose in terms of testing since it’s just the same actions ad nauseum. Could be considered stress testing, though. They should cut down grinding to a minimum so all tiers of game-play can be tested within the iCBT week.
To be honest, I don’t know what position to put myself to.
Too much grinding gets boring, and at times encourages people to resort to botting. And if the game is too easy, people will get bored easily, the game will get old real fast.
I’m fine with a game that you could reach max lvl in 3-4 months with between 2-5hrs a day u spend, but if its 3-4 months or more even with 8hrs+ a day… You got to be kidding.
We people actually have work… we need to earn money too to support our gaming addiction and other needs.
But if you just copypaste features from other games your success isn’t guaranteed, you’re just adding to the pool of poor WoW clones that people will overlook for the top sellers. There has to be some sort of middle ground. Also, while you may find progression fun others may find it restrictive, annoying or just as boring. You can have “epic” fights in just about any game with the right implementation and mechanics.
Besides changing ToS into a complete linear progression themepark MMO where your guided from one NPC to another to collect 15 cow asses makes no sense from how the core mechanics are right now. Rather, we should be looking to improve on what we already have at the beta stages of the game IMO. Another thing you have to consider is longevity, linear progression for 500 levels just sounds as masochistic as grinding mobs.
Yes, I don’t like it. Do they need to change it because of me? No, they don’t, why are you assuming that? Do they need to change it if more and more players come to realize that they don’t like it? Yes, definitely. But that is common sense I guess.
Also BECAUSE this is a closed beta test grinding is even more of a dumb decision. If you need this 1 week to get to level 100 then how are you supposed to test the areas beyond level 100? We are supposed to test as much as possible and that normally includes up to 80% of the content in the beta. But being only able to test 50% somewhat defeats that purpose.
@Cat_Black You got it. 3-4 months is okay if you spend a max of 5 hours per day in a 5 day cycle (2 days rest, family etc). But 8 hours every day and you still need 4 months is way too much.
I like it
/Sorry if my answer is too simple/
Me too, I like it very very much actually haha! To some extent I like it more then RO! In it’s own unique way.
If you don’t like it now when the game releases with no exp bonus, you’re going to be in for a rude awakening.
I already said that I probably won’t be playing it after release if this hardcore grinding aspect stays as it is. I’ll still test the full beta though. A key is a key after all. And we also don’t have any EXP bonus right now. Just saying. Unless you mean a - bonus
We do have a bonus, it’s just not as high as the KCBT
This bonus then is next to non-existent.
I mean I’ve done many sidequests already and the mobs I’m up against are more than 10 levels higher than me. Something like that shouldn’t be. I could understand 2-6 levels max if I rushed the quests. But I kill mostly everything that moves so it’s really, really bad.
Thats is not the reason why Pserver became popular in Ro… It became popular because P2p. When Ro1 turned P2p… there was lot of young people who didint have money to pay to play… So only way to play Ro1 was Pservers… Grinding is very fun…enjoyable and of course there are people who prefer less grinding… Yes this game should not have hardcore Ro1 grinding exp system but it should not be easy…
