I have recently started playing ToS. I made my team on the EU server as from what I understood, the server “locations” at the time were simply for localizing the populations of the servers, ie. put all Europeans in one place, all Americans in another, SEA regions in another, etc… However after reading a bit more recently, it’s become apparent that servers will eventually be physically located in those locations and pings will reflect that.
I have put a bit of effort and sunk my resources into that team. Sure I could regain those results by throwing $ into whatever server and the same few dozen hours of game time, which isn’t much by MMO standards, and achieve the “same result”.
However, I would like to know if there will be a server transfer system implemented at a later day. Say if a OCE (Australia/New Zealand) server is opened, will ToS allow us to transfer from whatever server we are on, to that OCE server?
I’m not worried about my ping to a physical EU server, as it honestly won’t be that much different than a US server, when it comes down to it. I’m only worried about whether i’ll be able to transfer to a OCE server if it ever becomes a thing.
SEA is a no go, most traffic from Australia routes through West Coast USA before it goes elsewhere, especially if you play from the East Coast of Australia, so you in effect get a worse ping to SEA servers than US servers.
