[Trade] Old PS4 Game Sharing. Just about applies here

Above is the link for an old Sony vs Microsoft game sharing video when the consoles were next gen. Microsoft wanted to ID lock games to their consoles, that soon changed. This was Sony’s response to the greed and satirical comedy to the entire situation.

I found it oddly similar to the trade issue in ToS compared to any MMO. Where IF you trade, this happens:
1.) You both need Token (VIP) privileges
2.) You spend 1 of 30 trade counts
3.) The item loses potential if it’s a equipment piece
4.) If it doesn’t have potential, it becomes untradable (At least in the case of AH)
5.) Even if you trade between your own team (Team Storage) the above applies.
6.) You can’t trade silver, good luck figuring out values of things to trade with other players in a bargaining system.
7.) The above pigeonholes players to use the AH; Listing an item takes 30 mins - 2 hours before it’ll appear. Selling an item takes 48 hours to receive silver.
8.) Where other games charge you fees for using the AH as a convenience. You’re charged 10% (VIP) to 30% (Non-VIP) and it’s the “most” “practical” way to trade, not a convenience.

All this while other games just… Hand it over.

Added some new points and I feel this is bump worthy. For a good chuckle. I’m really not trying to push the Change Trade agenda, I’d love for it to change, but the company thinks it’s a good idea, it’s their game and baby, time will tell.

Regardless the above are just stated facts. Far from my opinion on the matter. So for those who come seeking an argument, nothing to argue. These are just FACTs. Nothing more, nothing less.

Very true. Everything you said is true.

Lol, as I said just stating the facts as they are. It’s up for interpretation how players take it. I hear a lot that the Western market is more trade centric. I wouldn’t know how the East gaming communities are. I’ve only ever played iRO, WoW, Albion, Archeage (Producers of Rift, forgot their lame ass names), and making money in all of them were extremely important, minus WoW which was the only play to get better game without involving a money method scheme.

All the other games I mentioned, the true solo victors were the ones that learned market trends and how to get their best bang for the buck. Whether you used P2W methods or not, wisely investing and moving money was key in making your money work for you.

I was top 100 geared on my server of Archeage and spent less than 500$ which was drops in the bucket compared to the true whales. Some I personally knew to buy gold from gold sellers (better returns than converting in game items to gold) and still spent upwards of 10,000$ to match my gear level.

Point being, maybe it’s true. Western gamers like their commerce. Without it, games die. Look at D3 when they lost their AH completely. They dramatically lost players within a month.

Surprised this didn’t get more chuckles. Bumping to get some fresh views
