Silver could also work if they want to “combat bots” by adding in gold sinks to counter the inflation caused by the bots themselves. Add in a sizable silver tax to trading, not so much that it’s impossible without grinding, not sizable enough that it might make a bit of a difference in the gold levels of the server
Is the same history.
If a player can grind silver and “be happy”, a bot can grind silver and be profitable.
And with “a sizable silver tax” for trading, is nearly the same as no trade, at least for low levels.
The majority of players are casual player (as you can see in the adventure journal -> average points). You make players angry if they can’t afford trade a simple hat.
Paywalling all trade is ridiculous. Give free players 30 trades a month, people who pay get unlimited. Making people pay to trade, and then RESTRICT IT for people who did pay is possibly the worst idea I have ever seen in an MMO. This will come back to bite them.
You can’t make everyone happy, and the hats that you can get at low levels are generally gotten by defeating bosses (at least what I can remember).
Warframe has a sizable trade tax AND a daily trade limit, and it’s currently the most popular f2p on Steam. PSO2 has premium-only trade and AH signing and it’s, well, a giant as well over in Japan. Having played both extensively(a few thousand hours between the two), neither system had much of an impact on how much I played. Both methods can definitely work, they just have to be handled in the right way.
And Path of Exile in the same position of Warframe in Steam (the majority of players are out of steam) and has the best free to play system with no restrictions.
Actually a monthly subscription for one trade/day and ONLY with other token players has no future.
@st_huse suggestions has sense.
Yes, the premium + daily limit does not make much sense, though in PSO2 it is still between premium members only (which is most likely why a lot of people simply auction their items instead)
In a similar vein to Huse’ idea, I believe I might have suggested this in this thread(or another?) but having a cash-shop item, possibly only purchasable with free TP, that allows for one trade. It would effectively still be once a month, but you could stockpile them for something else to spend free TP on that isn’t soul gems
Haven’t played PSO2 for years and can’t remember much outside it being a typical choose difficulty -> do dungeon over and over like a lot of mmos, such as Dragon’s Nest.
I play Path of Exile regularly and it always has players coming back for more with every league released. They have not restricted trade, and even encourage it, and their free to play cash shop, besides additional storage, is entirely cosmetic, and its been running for several years now.
If they can do it, I’m sure this can too.
I agree, the fact that a basic functionality of an MMORPG is behind a pay wall is ludicrous. I love the game, on paper it’s the perfect MMORPG for me, and I bought the EA1 pack, but I don’t get the justification of limiting trading to a token… It makes me not want to even play the game. Others have said it in this topic, as well, but I just want to also add my voice to the crowd: What is the point of an MMORPG if you can’t help out your friends? Might as well be a single player RPG at this point. I too am going to play out my EA, but unless they make item trading free and unlimited I won’t be coming back, as sad as it is for me to say that.
If IMC wasn’t trying to force all these services behind a paywall and just release them for free as they should be just like any other MMO worth its salt, people, including myself, would not mind playing for a long time and actually spending money on extra content like cosmetics.
I will not pay for basic content you took out on purpose to try to charge players.
I will only pay for EXTRA content that you put effort to release, aka hair styles, costumes, pets, or for convenience items such as move speed/exp rate increases, assuming you aren’t purposely slowing us down from base move speed/exp rates to try and milk that too.
If free trade, an open market, personal shops to buy materials, and the team storage aren’t released for free, due to them being basic services all games provide, by the end of the early access month, I wont be staying either. Its ridiculous and I wont support this system.
Wow. This is the first time I’ve learned of this limitation. I won’t be affected much by this because I will be always using tokens but I have a lot of friends who have no plans of using a token. Its quite hard especially in a party setup where their is always a chance the a loot will not go to the party member who really needs it. I hope IMC will discuss this and remove this limitation or at least give a limit each day to those who have no tokens. This will frustrate a lot of incoming players especially the F2P players and may cause players to drop the game in the long run.
It is strange that so far no member from IMC spoke about the trade. At least I heard nothing about it, and I’m sure that they read popular posts.
Its kinda strange yeah, that they haven’t said anything. There are multiple popular threads about this topic and even a change.org petition up and going (was posted on reddit) so its kinda odd they haven’t talked about it.
or maybe they think this will blow over, which it wont.
Tree of Savior trading system rework!
Are you guys forgetting that silver takes two days to get cashed?
This could totally work if they make the ban during that 2 day window as efficient as the botters selling spree.
This system is actually good, whales get encouraged to spend and free players can benefit from it.
Its totaly weird for me, i was doing an Alchemist to make potions to my group, to help they with it, but no, can’t trade without pay, so no potions my friends, sorry.
And ‘‘Go farm silver for buy token and trade’’ No man, nope nope nope, its not right pay for something DEFAULT from a MMO.
This game already has so many problems and with this pay to play, wait to play, it will kill this game, this game just have players because they already paid for it.
We are not talking about silver trade, is about item trade.
Even with a full and unlimited trade system is the same for goldseller because they need to use auction house to trade silver (like now).
I dont get meaning of Team in that case… Why I need farmer, If cant event share silver between my own characters? How I suppose to build full support character with all CON for example? Its usual to Korean games to have shared soft currency between characters in one account
You can’t limit silver trade without limiting item trade (at least with this system).
People will just trade a crap item that has a high auction house silver cap to the silver buyer
All forms of trade affect each other.People here are missing that.
Well even with premium you are restricted. Come on, 30 trades is more like a free account limitation. Make premium unlimited.
