ToS won't launch (FIXED)

I was playing the game just fine earlier, a power outage knocked my computer out, now ToS won’t start. After 2 complete reinstalls and computer restarts, it still won’t launch. Any ideas?

Something I have noticed: When I try to run the game, it fails, then I go to verify cache and it says 1 file failed. What?..

When you uninstalled, did you check if there are still any files or folders inside TOS? You can try to delete all the XML files inside the release folder and then verify cache. If that does not work, try to uninstall again and make sure you delete the TOS folder on the common folder of Steam. Tell me if it works.

Hello cnatomos,

Thank you for your reply. As of right now I have searched my entire system for anything “tree” or “tos” related (taking care to not delete anything terms of service related). I have gotten rid of everything that I can find. I have just installed the game and am awaiting patching. If this doesn’t work then I will try your suggestion.

It worked and I am back in action. My strategy incorporated yours so I am not sure which one worked.

Happened to me the same exact thing as @Sesshyru, followed the steps explained by @cnatomos and it worked perfectly again. It was not needed to reinstall the game.

Also here happened the same issue after a power outage.
Game is patching, “Verify Integrity of Game Cache” seems to not work and results in long patc downloads. I will try this xml method.
