gzuz really this question???

I really don’t like that people are calling ToS as RO2 because that just confuses the crap out of people. RO2 was a terrible game. ToS is not Ragnarok Online.

WarpPortal is taking over RO2.

All aboard the train wreck!

Wow. Over five months and 0 likes. That must be some kind of record.

NECROMANCER!!!

And RO2 was fated to be great!
Then WoW succeed so much in the market of spoon feed.
That they trashed they’re glorious inovative concepts for a WoW clone.

Worst CEO decision made by money grrubbing eyes.
“Yes, caus ewe will have an wow with RO theme. We will make money.”
“Yes, cause we will have an wow with x theme. We will make money.”

Amplify x with any theme you coudl think off…
Most titles that got realesed as mmorpgs where WoW clones in the fact, that they simpyl were rollercoaster themparks with spoon feed content.
Vanilla WoW was fun … it was mostly stolen functions from Everquest, made easyer aseesible to people. Plastered with an way bettter graphic.

I doubt that most even many know what RO2 … was before the Wowcapolyse.

Guess we’ll have to see if WarpPortal makes it better or worse now that they’ve taken over development of it.

Heh. Don’t you think it’s a little too late for them to make it better…? >.<

What’s there to make better.
It’s a wow clone, that’s worse then wow xD.

I played it on just for the sake of nostalgia … it feels more like wow, flyyf and a few other soso titles put into a mixer. Blended roughly, then added into an RO theme form.

Old RO2 was so good… or it should have been.

With unique classes again.
Equip that you can level with you and add cosmetics to it (aka other equip as skin only).
Gems.
Cards.
Non linear quest …

This is the best i could find. From 2005.

Qaute of a certain site:
http://news.mmosite.com/content/2010-07-30/ragnarok_online_2_legend_of_the_second_cbt_overview,1.shtml#ue_pic

“Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second is a respective sequel opening
up to a new world of Ragnarok, following up on Ragnarok Online, its
prequel that shows off more than seven hundred thousand players. After
Gravity Corp. announce last July 2010 that the first version of Ragnarok
Online 2: The Gate of the World (Epic of the Light) have been scrapped
and have reworked multiple times due to its poor initial reception. The
company decided to return to the system and mechanics of the original
Ragnarok Online while keeping the 3D Engine. After renaming the original
title “Gate of the World” to “Legend of the Second,” they also changed
the look of their characters from the original chibi-style to a more
serious and mature feel. Everything has been overhauled and that means
they have gone back to the basics. Profusion of story is brought by
linkage to the world of Ragnarok Online, and by implementing
complaints/suggestions from Ragnarok Online 2; a completely new
enjoyment will be provided not just a different game but also a true
sequel of Ragnarok 1.”

Whiners killed RO2 xD…

Not sure if youre serious about the thread OP lol.

Even you ask this question in RO2 forums, i bet most people would say ToS > RO2

The original development team took what they did for Gate of the World and decided to make it into Lime Odyssey. You can see how that turned out. They needed Gravity to fund them and they paid the price for leaving.

yes~

Underfunded, you can’t make games like that.

Indie games are a thing for themself ^^.

RIP LO. I was waiting quite a while for that and it looked promising too :frowning:

RO2: Gate of the World looked great as a standalone MMORPG, but not so much as a sequel to RO. Then you’ve got RO2: Legend of the Second that carried the same promise as RO when that game originally launched and then GRAVITY effed it up badly just like its predecessor (seriously, there’s some heavy-handed repeat of RO history with current RO2).

I can understand the Gate of the World team leaving GRAVITY because GRAVITY is just the sucks, but they shouldn’t have spent so much time trying to make a “perfect” game with limited funds. At least IMC gets some credit for not delaying TOS for TOO long. Bugs can be eventually fixed, but you can’t improve on an MMORPG if you never release it.

This game already has nice art and features and really a true ragnarok succesor 100%…I just wished they did not released it too soon…more cbt for atleast a year…and this game would have been a very huge success.

I just ressued this topic lol…coz of that other thread…cant help to reply to this comment after reading that…
