TOS server select screen destroying my GPU fan?

Before starting up TOS, my GPU fans are at ~1000 RPM. When I start TOS and it goes to the server select screen, the fans slowly rev up to more than 2200 RPM. Another culprit is the character select screen wherein the fans are at ~2000 RPM. When I enter the game after choosing my character, the fans go down to ~1700 RPM.

I tested this using Open Hardware Monitor after observing that my pc fans sounded like jet engines when TOS entered the server select screen. I have tested this countless times. I even watch the RPM slowly rev up from 1k to 2.2k as my pc fans start roaring louder and louder. I tested other games (CS:GO, Dota2, L4D2) and saw that no other game revs up my fans to more than 2000 RPM even at maximum load (they usually stay somewhere from 1500 to 1700 RPM).

Minecraft syndrome. AKA there isn’t a framerate limit on some screens and your GPU is working as hard as it can.

Try changing your vsync setting in ToS options, and if that doesn’t help try forcing it in your AMD/Nvidia software.

Edit: Or just don’t spend hours at the login screen, I guess.

By changing my vsync settings, are you telling me to turn it off or on? Because I had it off the whole time.

Using full GPU 100% of time is normal for most AA - AAA games so if the fan is noisy, there is a overheating problem or a bad fan configuration.

The game can’t directly mess with fans.

The thing is, the fans only rev up for tos. I’ve tried over 6 other games now including Shadow of Mordor (a really demanding game) and Fallout 4 and the fans never go above 1700 rpm. Only the server select screen of TOS revs it up to more than 2000 rpm.

I have never once heard my gpu fan come on for this game.

Not like there’s anything on the login screen worth hanging around for. It even defaults to your last chosen server. Just click “Enter” and finished in 2 seconds lol

I know. Just wanted to share about abnormal behavior.
