[TOS] Multi-Threading Test: City Environment

Woo more optimization! Cant wait for this

He was doing that thing… Where he said ā€œI only shows up just to do the events because of my green tea hatā€. His quit was a political move. Whether he actually quits I think is something only he and his friends know.

Forgot to focus on the more important thing:

Another aspect we’re tackling is related to resource loading. The slight performance drops that can happen whenever a character meets a new NPC or monster in-game are a problem we are seriously taking in consideration. We expect resource management measures will help a great deal in solving this.

The thing that causes rendering to jerk all the time. Which is more important for quality when you’re playing on computers that aren’t potatoes. Want that hammered down even more then FPS.

They locked camera angle and not let us rotate cos’ they got lazy finishing up 90% of maps. Just horizontally rotate view with zoomy and you’ll see most map’s unfinished. and just empty wires with textures.

If it improves that much in cities, it should further improve the rest of the content as well. I’m happy as hell with this update, and this is just their second or third baby step in the right direction. Hazah. \o/

Also I’m guessing they never intended to let users actually zoom about, as you’re right, most maps do not appear completed. For our default view however, they are. Kind of sucks but generally with default rotation (or a tad bit of moving, not 360) most maps are gorgeous.

Just be happy for once. Flails and rolls.

Every games do that. Some parts of game are deliberately coded incompletely because they dont expect players to be able to reach/see there. Since players ā€˜cant’ see those places, it is more wise to reduce the details/just make those places empty in some cases to avoid wasting unnecessary processing power. If you ever played Tera, there are alot of these incomplete areas. Worse of all, some are ā€˜reachable’…your character can sometimes fall into the empty zone, and die from falling damage :frowning:

Remember the good old days where we were asking for offloading of resource usage to GPUs in closed beta? I guess they don’t have anything but onboard graphics in south korea. Rows and rows of huge purring graphics cards are an american thing. Because AMERICA!!! POWER!! 9/11!!!

Anyone who is still throwing money on this burning heap is a drooling imbecile and a social criminal.

there it is…

was waiting for the reason you made a competent thread and was waiting for the catch…

thanks for not disappointing :disappointed_relieved:

They intentionally make it move that way, everything else is 3d other than the character head, some of the item in game and some of the background

HEY! …I like new costumes…

TOS began as full rotatable but they decided early on to fix it to stationary cam.

Well. About the video, I’ll take the initiative and be that one crazy person on youtube making videos about this dead game.

Who knows, it might help a bit. >_>
At least if it’s an average quality video (I’m not a professional but I can do some stuff in AFX).

Currently encoding the first episode.

What? Only H264? Why no HEVC? Melt that CPU

It’s rendering on my GPU actually.
And I want to upload it today so the video can’t have 50gbs. LOL
Youtube will also chomp the quality anyways so why bother. <3

wait …why not 1080p rather than 720p?

Oh I missed that, personally I always used CPU render

Oh that would be because I don’t run the game @1080p I didn’t want to stretch the recordings. My screen is small. But 720p is fine for news. It’s in 60fps tho which is better than what the game can actually make. ROFL

I’ll actually tweak the bitrate on future episodes. It’s taking waaay too long to render.

@haukinhue

I’m actually rendering on my GPU so that I can keep working on my templates while it renders. Creating assets and whatnot.

Differently from IMC I’m actually putting work in this so that it will begin decently and improve overtime.

Ahh …the source is 720p …no wonder

I mean, I rather make something @720p than not making anything at all. Besides, I’m not really getting anything from making this xD
