[TOS] Multi-Threading Test: City Environment

Multi-threading process applied in a crowded city environment for performance improvement tests.

Through this and other measures, we expect the overall FPS performance in the game to improve significantly in a future patch.

See our dev blog for the full details.

I expected something differently when I read multi-thread (forum post) & city environment.

One thing to consider, however, is that this multi-threading process might cause hidden bugs that are unseen at the time of testing.

at least they are honest …this time
at least …probably…err

We must push forever forward. Regardless I have a huge boner right now.

“The results we obtained after applying the multi-threading function exceeded our expectations.”

10 FPS increase exceeded their expectation. The future isnt too bright it seems.

Hey~ give em’ some slack, 10fps is big for Asians, just look at weeboo anime streams runs at 16-20fps.
Westerners also just have their own thing(autism) for “if it’s not 60+fps, it’s sh!t”.

Nah, they just tried be optimistic. Dosen’t matter what they do until core engine don’t involve to work more than one procesor core, well in Diablo 3 having 10 fps when on map we have tons of mobs, lasers and fire. Well in WoW 25man with adds and fire bring on my PC only 15 fps. But this is Dark times when i have old procesor Intel Core 2Duo with 2+Ghz

Now? 6 Core 3.8 Ghz and every game work nice. Of course ToS don’t, because engine can’t use what i have. Oh come on!

that 10+ FPS improve and less freeze fps drops

THIS IS AMAZING!

The results we obtained after applying the multi-threading function exceeded our expectations. In our internal tests, we observed performance improvements of up to 1.5 to 2 times in a 4-core CPU, and 1.5 to 3 times in an 8-core CPU. FPS was steadily increased and occasional framerate spikes were significantly reduced. For reference, the specifications of the PC used for testing are as follows: CPU - i5 3570; graphics - GTX650; OS - Windows 10.

If you’ve got a better CPU, it looks like you’re going to notice a fairly drastic improvement.

Gee, mister! You mean to say that multi-threading made the game better? You don’t mother ■■■■■■■ say!

Took them this long to figure this â– â– â– â–  out?
Good. Now let us have it.

Finally my 8 cores will be doing something in this game.

[Edit]

If any staff member reads this, don’t feel bad about it.
It’s annoying that it took so long to apply the concept of multi-treading. Honestly I thought it was already tested and discarded considering the time it took. But I look forward to it. <3

10 fps is an amazing improvement when comparing contrasts between 0-60 fps. stop being an â– â– â– â– â– â– â–

Probably their best developer update as of yet. I’m actually feeling optimistic.

From what I understand they are only making some functions multithreaded, which is why you don’t see a massive but still a rather noticeable increase in that video. Once they start rolling it out to other parts of the game, thibg should continue to improve.

lol i feel the same way haha

From experience, don’t feel anything yet until it’s in the game.
Last time Hakyu Kim replied to a post many felt optimistic too, including myself.

Game had no change in an entire month after that and the exodus began. That’s when ToS lost 45k players in the spam of 3 months.
