[TOS] Multi-Threading Test: City Environment

Nah, they just tried be optimistic. Dosen’t matter what they do until core engine don’t involve to work more than one procesor core, well in Diablo 3 having 10 fps when on map we have tons of mobs, lasers and fire. Well in WoW 25man with adds and fire bring on my PC only 15 fps. But this is Dark times when i have old procesor Intel Core 2Duo with 2+Ghz

Now? 6 Core 3.8 Ghz and every game work nice. Of course ToS don’t, because engine can’t use what i have. Oh come on!

that 10+ FPS improve and less freeze fps drops

THIS IS AMAZING!

The results we obtained after applying the multi-threading function exceeded our expectations. In our internal tests, we observed performance improvements of up to 1.5 to 2 times in a 4-core CPU, and 1.5 to 3 times in an 8-core CPU. FPS was steadily increased and occasional framerate spikes were significantly reduced. For reference, the specifications of the PC used for testing are as follows: CPU - i5 3570; graphics - GTX650; OS - Windows 10.

If you’ve got a better CPU, it looks like you’re going to notice a fairly drastic improvement.

Gee, mister! You mean to say that multi-threading made the game better? You don’t mother ■■■■■■■ say!

Took them this long to figure this ■■■■ out?
Good. Now let us have it.

Finally my 8 cores will be doing something in this game.

[Edit]

If any staff member reads this, don’t feel bad about it.
It’s annoying that it took so long to apply the concept of multi-treading. Honestly I thought it was already tested and discarded considering the time it took. But I look forward to it. <3

10 fps is an amazing improvement when comparing contrasts between 0-60 fps. stop being an ■■■■■■■

Probably their best developer update as of yet. I’m actually feeling optimistic.

From what I understand they are only making some functions multithreaded, which is why you don’t see a massive but still a rather noticeable increase in that video. Once they start rolling it out to other parts of the game, thibg should continue to improve.

lol i feel the same way haha

From experience, don’t feel anything yet until it’s in the game.
Last time Hakyu Kim replied to a post many felt optimistic too, including myself.

Game had no change in an entire month after that and the exodus began. That’s when ToS lost 45k players in the spam of 3 months.

It’s cause it’s positive or he’s sleeping, cause sometimes it feels like the mofo is on 24/7.

yey, fps increase~ on new server jtos!!!

itos get the last of everything!

wow, we are actually seeing tos growing matured~

such news, still wondering how fps n optimization isnt the core during 5years they took to make the game

next time, let me break someone’s leg for no reason, then i bring the person to hospital n pay everything.
people would start praising me like a saint.

much improvement.

And there he is.

It wasn’t noted properly, but just noticed.

We have captured a crowded city from our Japanese server and measured it via the replay tool.

It’s likely jp server staff are the ones doing debugging/fixing and working on a proper optimizations, while the kr overlords are just shilling for more cash in all servers.

This is the page to the previous optimisation. There they said the optimisation can give like 1.5 times increase or 1.9 times increase on whatever that was. To be honest, I can’t feel any change and my fps didnt increase. I’m not saying 10fps is nothing. 10 fps is an achievement, especially when they are recording at a crowded places. I was saying they don’t aim high/far. From their way of management up till now, you should be able to tell that they are only doing whats already in front of them. I’d like to see they impress the players, rather than doing what players asked/should be there from the start.

30 fps on a quad core is still way too low, they better work more on it. The town they showed is just average population, not really “crowded”

And stop using the CPU for everything FFS, whats the GPU for?

I would call it “baby steps”.

I wouldn’t say that they are doing it right cause they are not.
We gotta understand that they have limited budgets now. Specially with the very small player population.

We can’t compare dev time to games from Devs like Blizz and SquareEnix.

They did take their time to figure the existence and applications of multi-threading tho.

Don’t be an ■■■■■■■. You should at least respect people’s attempts. If you won’t even do that there is no reason for you to even be in the Forum anymore. Not even as a Dark Knight. The CPU is there to be used. It’s a resource like the GPU. Some things are calculated better with the CPU. I don’t know why they are not using the GPU for this particular formula but they must have a reason.
