TOS Marketing is pretty bad

No announcements for the game
No investments in marketing at all
No more hype-building posts

you guys remember when IMC was good at building hype releasing various stuff talking about upcoming content?
we are probably to have a gigantic patch this tuesday but we haven’t seen anything about it in the front page or around the internet.
and I dont even mean like those shitty chinese games that put spam announcements, we barely see gameplay videos of new stuff

did people involved with marketing got fired? If we are getting a huge patch this tuesday why isnt hype being built upon it?

No point marketing a game with a track record of not being able to retain new players. Better to focus funds else where.

Actually, no, I don’t.

The best advertisement they were getting were from other players/word of mouth. Almost all their promotional emails go straight to spam, and it’s pretty rare (I think they did it twice ever) to see some kind of Steam announcement/ad.

Like others have pointed out, I don’t see how they could even try to start marketing the game. The lack of advertising has been a small topic of discussion since release, until it became clear imc has no plans to do much about it.

I also remember some of the efforts made by the staff here before (like the Popolion Post magazine which was apparently dropped after it’s 3rd edition), but who knows if the person with these initiatives is even still around. iTOS staff has had people leaving or just disappearing without a word, with new faces coming (again, without a word) since forever. With such an unstable environment I really wouldn’t have my hopes up for any major effort or investment put into iTOS. Then again, most people who still play already know this, know what to expect, and just roll with it (and you can see clearly imc is comfortable with all of this too).

TOS is more oriented to the Korean market, you get news and upcoming content on the original page of the game, a good example of this is the Ktos thread, we get a lot of info from the game there, people sometimes translates the game patches, developers posts Q&A, etc

The first thing I said when I read the topic was, “What marketing?”
The only stuff close to marketing I see from them are those youtube videos… which, I doubt build hype that well…

I think they pretty much gave up on trying to advertise the game. Seems like all they care about doing these days is making fancy costumes for their gacha

Theyve never marketed, dunno what strange world you live in. Doesn’t seem a priority, best to focus on fixing bugs and updating the game.

Game that come from word of mouth has better probability to keep a loyal fan. Building a proper lag/bug free game has always be a priority. Mmorpg like tos need a lot of time, money and commitment to keep playing plus it’s also expensive to maintain the infrastructure. If i just a bit busy, i might as well drop this game. If IMC want a better revenue from developing a game, might as well make a new game.
