That’s not true. Over the course of video game history there have been many far worse engines.
They didn’t. I think they used a modified engine of the Granado Espada engine.
One of the the main issues seems to be that the TOS game engine supposedly doesn’t have multicore support (haven’t checked that myself).
There are probably many other aspects that could be improved but i don’t want to mention anything that i’m not 100% sure of (i think a big aspect of fps drops is the network code/server communication aswell as asset loading/creation performance).
