I’ve been lurking in the community for months (or years, considering I was also around when Project R1 first announced); and just silently reading what IMC and you all posted in the forum.
Some are good. Constructive feedback, properly mannered criticism, humble suggestion, and so on.
Some are just pure… well, you know the word.
With everything else in between.
All is good in the world since I completely understand this is how community works both in the real and online environment…
…but then I’m stumbled across the so called “ToS iCBT2 Economic Crisis” (lol).
I’m not sure if IMC doing it by accident (because, well, -you know- bug and all) or intentionally “on purpose”.
It’s interesting how the community reacted to this crisis. Most of you are whining over and over to IMC like, uh, I think I should stop here since many threads already covered this whining matter.
What I noticed however, that nobody deal with this crisis like a true ‘make-the-most-fun-from-the-worst-situation’ gamer and innovating something beneficial out of it. Which is:
- World Event! -
This is the most ideal situation for a world event, you know.
Ever since The Assassination of Lord British or The Corrupted Blood Plague Incident, there are only few ‘true’ World Events that’s interesting and make the players of a game unite to solve the event.
I remember a certain event from a VRMMORPG comics that make NPC be able to sell out their stocks and such. It sounds exciting.
World Event is quite ‘fun’ since it will break the routine and make us ‘think’, ‘innovate’, ‘seek a way out together’.
See the keyword? Together
Yeah, yeah, I know, some of you already on strike together to protest IMC yelling this and that. But come on, nothing will come out of it.
Talk with other players, seek a certain class that can repair your gears and do good business with them (you know which one ~wink ), or better yet, be one yourself and form a ‘company-like’ group with others from the same class and offers repair service with reasonable price and then help other classes in need. Stock a certain item, bargain with other players, be a good Samaritan and help the weak to survive this crisis. And so on, and so forth.
You know what you will gain from all of the above? Friends.
That’s a very good deal, isn’t it?
Yeah, yeah, I know -too-, that some of you don’t like friends, prefer soloing, never bother with so called ‘interaction’ with other player, you want to quit because this game (CBT, mind you 15,532 times) sucks, and IMC Y U DO DIS I won’t play yer gaem anymoar, blah-blah-blah.
Hey, it’s up to you, be my guest.
But honestly? Repeatedly whining over and over again won’t make the developer fix the ‘bug’ faster. Let them work on it. They already noticed, they knew.
It’s a truly rare occasion that mimics real world’s situation.
So let’s enjoy it while it last as a “ToS World Event”.
Be that certain player that will be on everyone’s memories and remembered even after the game reach the end of it’s life time. I’m pretty sure we can have the next famous Flag-Guy from the previous iCBT that fondly remembered by other players.
Too long to read? Yep.
But wait, here’s the tl;dr version: Let’s enjoy the economic crisis as a ToS first World Event!
What? You don’t even like reading text? Here’s the tl;dr version with images! (but still too long anyway):
A Certain Middle-Aged Man’s VRMMO Activity Log
^It’s really remind me of ToS, especially the too-crowded-hunting-ground and poor archer’s part, hahah.
So, that’s all from me.
I’ll return to my old routines (which is, enjoying the fun while it last).
See you next time when something fun happening again!
And oh, this is a Game Tips section, isn’t it?
Here’s a pro-tip from your fellow gamer: Don’t forget to enjoy your life, both here and outside.
