The dev banked hard on hyping that game beyond belief. And charged $60 AAA rate for it. People buy into hype to easy. Marketing does a good job for these companies.

me, im guessing atleast 3k player has paid atleast 50usd to now.

still, i rather TOS is one-time-purchase, then every new rank, they release as expansion, something like wow.
This way, current maintenance will focus on maintaining the stability of the server, improve current user experience etc
rather than what we having at the moment, player hardly able to digest whatever content/fix/break/surprise/event/patch/loadingscreen
