Tree of Savior Forum

TOS Community PDF

I saw some interest in this idea so I’m starting my own thread.

I’d like to do something for everyone waiting for the game.

The idea is a digital magazine or newspaper in PDF format. It would cover Tree of Savior news, post-CBT and pre-release thoughts, player interviews, fan-art and comic columns. Some articles would be annotated/linked to forum discussions and youtube videos. basically a news roundup sort of thing.

Or a podcast with the same idea.

This was just an idea that popped in my head but it’s something I’d like to go throu

This is an interesting idea but… why a pdf magazine? I mean I guess it makes sense if you’re going to interview players, put fanart n stuff inside but Pre-Release would seem to be fairly boring IMO and a LOT of stuff is subject to change according to IMC’s will.

Having this Post-Release would be an awesome thing to have though and even better if it was actually put inside the game like a bulletin board in every major city with different magazines for each city (when they get populated). Perhaps even as a purchasable thing in-game to read/collect when you’re just sitting at a campfire.

Lol I just saw that you removed the discord server (even though I probably wasn’t going to join since I doubt I would be able to help much) as I was typing this.

I am still in the brainstorming stages. A pdf is easier, but a podcast would be more interesting. I just want to get something out for the community besides my own videos. Get some community projects and involvement.

I removed the discord link, but anyone interested can just ask for it and I’ll shoot them a message.

I was wondering where you were on that empty discord server.
(you know the only other one you were in related to ToS)

You might consider posting a list of openings and related skills required.
The best to you. Have fun with that.

Yeah… I can’t like any of your posts but I probably would have liked both since the ideas are great and I’m very supportive of the idea since it would help the community a lot  my only issue with the podcast however would be wondering how dedicated it would have to be… so as you said, pdf is way easier.

I’ve seen things like this in other games (most especially private ones) like TalonRO, where the site produces a monthly issue of events, happenings and updates in game by using the same kind of idea like this.

I would like to see it as well here in ToS, not only it is entertaining, it also gives new players a glimpse and perspective about the game making it more attractive thus providing us and the game more players

I support this :+1:

These are the topics I’ve decided to cover.

  1. Player interviews
their thoughts after playing CBT, their hopes for the game, etc

  2. Sections that covers TOS youtube videos. These would be annotated with a link to the actual video.
Maybe something like a “PVP column” and have links to PVP videos describing what’s happening.

  3. Tips and tricks
little things you can do to improve your TOS experience.

  4. Theory crafting/Build Review
Crafting skill builds and elaborating on the idea behind it.

Want to buy translated patch notes section.

The good thing is, you can work on a magazine with a team of people, and also work on a podcast along with it.

I’m not sure how great a PDF would work, but it’s definitely a good start! Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with :sunny:

I like more the idea about a youtube channel. Because not everyone will read a pdf, but it’s fine also.

I remember back when Rito was still putting out the uh, how was it called… Journals of justice…? I used to read those like a fk’in zealot. Granted they were more about game-lore and random stuff at times, hah xD

Was still a very nice touch.

I’d like a PDF version for offline reading…but you can also make an e-magazine and have it available online.

Drupal was a tool I used for a class project once (we were mocking up a web magazine ha ha ha how relevant). It makes collaboration a bit easier in that you can have different users with different permissions (writer, artist, editor, etc) all working on the same issue, then have it be publicly available once the issue is finished. Cons: you many need a web host. Just food for thought.

I remember the Journal of Justice, btw. I brought it up during my interview a few years back and was asked, “how would that benefit the community aside from hype?” :c /job-opportunity

Hype brings people! people brings more hype! the endless cycle of hype! (erm uhm, +people = +money? xD?) derp
