I love ToS… I mean I reeeeaaallly love ToS. I learned about it before there was even an official site and followed the production every step of the way. I played roughly 20 hours in each of the international betas and have been looking at the patches of Korea. I forced myself not to play on the Korean server to be able to enjoy it with my friends and english community. I was a big Ragnarok fan, and still play on a private server. Even if it is not a RO clone, I still love this game and the concepts.

Here is the only thing I hate about ToS: part of it’s community. I’ve been constantly surprised by it… and not in a good way. I have seen multiple times where the forum was spammed with people complaining every step of the way and every decision that was made. No announcement or news ? People complain that they don’t keep their fans up to date. Announcement or news ? People complain about the fact the release date is far or the change is bad. The next step of the game is in a few months ? People complain that it’s to slow and that Korean version was fast. The next step of the game is in a few days ? People complain that the game is to broken, buggy and laggy to be released. 1 server ? People complain it will be laggy and impossible to login, when you do it’s overcrowded. 3 servers ? People complain it will dilude the community and make each world feel abandonned. 2 servers down for just a few hours for the stress test ? People flood the forum and complain we need back up to 3 servers. Just today IMC will update the forums and has to specify “Please don’t panic if you can’t login, read or reply to posts on the forum.” and it’s because it rampant in this community. I’ve even read posts where people from the first iCBT wanted compensation because the FREE game had quite a few problems and wasted their precious time.

I understand this is still beta period and criticism is desired and even welcomed. But it really feels like there is a lot of it and most of it is hateful and not very constructive. Most of the comments come off childish & spoiled and seem like people don’t want anything to do with the game, but still roam the forums.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on Skyforge founder pack, which I dropped very quickly after 2 weeks. I have paid the 80$ for the past few releases of hyped games like the Division, which I barely played after a few weeks. I do realise I’m lucky because I can afford these and in that sense 50$ is nothing for 3 months of game play PLUS tokens which I was going to probably purchase anyway. However, I understand this is related to my situations and I am fortunate in that sense, which is not the case for everyone.

That being said, 4 of my friends and I are all going to get the founder pack, for the simple reason that we love ToS, will support it and that we are impatient to play. I don’t agree with every little detail, but I know that this is only a beta and more good things are to come (from my experience from the first betas). No one is forcing you to buy anything. You are paying for a PRIVILEGE to early access and it is a means to support the creators of the game. Emphasize on the early acces, because even you don’t pay for this privilege you will still get access to the game in 3 months, no matter what ! I’ve seen many people cry out that the game may become P2W in June, but again no one is forcing you to buy anything you can just wait out and see. IMC has even said that new servers will be added in June, so you’re not going to be in a situation where everyone is to far ahead of you and make you feel like the economy is to far ahead as well.

Finally, I am very happy that IMC will cut down the amount of bots, gold sellers and annoying players that have no real interest in the game, except for trying it for 5 minutes and flaming it for the next hour or making a profit from the game. I do feel sorry for the real fans who cannot afford the founders pack and hope to see you guys ingame during the “official” open beta launch !

Ps.: I know I will get flamed and trolled for my post, with the community problem put on IMC shoulders (I’m surprised no one blamed them for global warming or Donald Trump at this stage with some kind of obscure connection to ToS). I know this community well enough and expect nothing less !:slight_smile:

People who thinks like this are actually the people that ruin the community… and no i’m not talking about you paying or everything you said… talking about only ONE thing you said… the fact that you pay for the “PRIVILEDGE” of playing.

Get togheter with yourself because it really is the other way around… think moneywise:

  • players don’t pay for the game = game shut down = developers go bankrupt = actually is the devs that should be the one tanking for your money and not the player that should thank the devs for the chance to give them money.

As long as people will keep thinking that they have to bow and thank people when they themselves give those people money after they lied and used dirty tricks in order to get that money… that means we’re actually widening the gap in between who tricks people and who get tricked and is grateful for it.

The main reason why I’m pissed is not really the founder’s pack, but the way they chose to overhype the community with Soon™ before dropping the bomb. That’s not something you do if you want to keep a good relationship with the community, and you certainly don’t help it by completely dissapearing from the forums.

I hope you don’t get flamed or trolled, you don’t deserve it. IMC has a good side to them, the artists mostly, which sadly got together with mediocre designers and the usual money-grabbing marketers.

I fundamentally disagree with that. It is how they make their money and how they can support their lifestyle to make good products.

However, putting that aside, we’re paying for an EARLY ACCESS privilege and not an OVERALL ACCESS. You will still get access to the game in 3 months no matter what. It is even possible the game will go bankrupt in a year because a lot of people waited for those 3 months and never purchased anything, but I doubt it will happen. You literally don’t have to spend a penny to get access to this game, all you have to do is be patient and you will not be punished in any way since new servers will be added for the “official” beta release. If however you are impatient and feel like you should get everything now for free, that is on you and not on IMC. The “founders” will still have to deal with the development bugs and problems during those 3 months, so this privilege is still partial.

I completely agree with you, a bait and switch is a dirty way to go about it. But still, it doesn’t take anything away from the game itself. I just feel like a big part of the community is very childish and spoiled about it !

But you clearly demonstrate an interest in the game and are able to look at yourself, which is far from the case from others ! I know it’s judgemental, but you have been here since mid 2015. Most people I see complaining, trolling or having hateful comments towards the game have been on the forums for less then a month and act like they deserve every little drop of content and game right now and that really pisses me off.
