ToS appreciation thread

tl;Dr: Give the game a chance to grow, it’s only been out for months and they have a small development team. They will never grow if we give up now.

Before you start accusing me of “white knighting” I did and still have my fair share of complains for the game.

But I can’t deny the facts or features that I am drawn to. But first, let tackle the main problems before getting to the good parts and I will make it as straight forward as I can be.

  1. Server stability: I am sure many of you are fed up and annoyed by the buggy maps and conectivity. but fixes aren’t gonna happen overnight, it takes time to find the source of the problems and the developers, not IMC have to fix them. not to mention there will be some cross server issues when it comes to the servers that IMC are not hosting themselves.

  2. Lack of content: Let’s face it, we are really not that far behind KToS, it takes time to code and translate new content. I have been in games where the NA contents are years behind the Korean/Japanese verions.

  3. Issue with buying TP: This is a no brainer here. it is quite obvious that IMC is having some roadblocks when it comes to selling TP. there are so many things to consider such as pricing and regional pricing, and having to deal with Steam. Many of you made it sound like IMC doesn’t event want to make money.

Those are the major complains about the game. And now back to my main point and why I think ToS is doing alright.

Aside of the common problems other MMOs have, TOS is a pretty solid game.

1.It has nice graphics, well not triple A titled MMO graphics because it wasn’t designed that way. The animation and environmental details are superb for this style of MMO.

  1. Game play is fun and straight forward. It wasn’t designed to be a strategically challenging game, You don’t need to be super hardcore about it which attracts a bigger player base. But I am sure a lot of us are playing because of nostalgic reasons.

  2. It’s a full game: I lost count on how many big gaming giants releasing a half finished game and milking us more through DLCs. ToS have everything an MMO needs, (more or less, even though the dungeon system is kinda lack luster) and there will only be more contents in the future.

I was gonna add more but I will probably give the wrong impression. conclusion? the tl;Dr part. Give the game a chance to grow and improve. it will never be the game we want it to be if we give up on it now.

ooh a real positivity thread.

I wanted to gush about how detailed the graphics are, this game is a visual work of art. Did you notice that if you kick up dirt via running over flowers, there’s petals that fall into the dust too? And how well the floor is tiled so that you hear the proper sfx for every surface you walk on?

it’s really neato.

Kudos to the hard working staffs, artists and developers! Keep it up and do your best again in improving this game. I know TOS has still many problems but one by one I know you can fix/solve them. :+1:

I actually really agree with this.
There’s so much potential in this game, that it’s such a waste to just give up on them now.
With due time guys!
Much excite.

:grinning:

We have the same bugs present since the first iCBT over a year ago.
But nice try, there’s nothing to defend here.

well, I would give them credit where credit is due.

But I’d like to raise the point that it is precisely people who refuse to give up on the game, who complain/criticise the most because they care deeply about it. While they are responsible for the large amount of negativity, a good part of it -is- warranted, and yeah, the unnecessarily vitriolic parts should just go, but I think negativity is largely serving its proper purpose here.

The people who couldn’t care less and disliked it would have already left. The people who think its good but only because of a shallow and basic understanding of the game would simply leave when something better comes because they are easily hooked to anything that satisfies them. The only people who stay are diehard fans and critics who are pinning on to their last hopes.

I appreciate the art style. Others, not so much.

I’m playing Tos because of:
The character customization is meaningful
IMO it’s the most gorgeous MMO to date
The game-play feels amazing
Silver is so very useful, so when you earn a lot of money you are excited

But most importantly: I wanted to play a hardcore MMO, and use my brain to conquer the world in an efficient and enjoyable way.
Without the difficulty of grinding, finding faster/higher rewarding ways to do things wouldn’t be as fun.

apparently those are not on the priority list, can you deny that they didn’t tackled some of the game breaking ones first?

@kingferlife @Darumy @codebreaker01 @Seilah

#We need this as an award on the forum, seriously…

Oh, and one of those ground breaking bugs was the 10+ people in town dropping FPS to sub 10…it’s been known for approx 6 months and it’s still there…

Haha, you silly. I like the game as an artist. I’ve stated about 10000 times before that I don’t like IMC.

Should you be the Professional Jumping to Conclusions Moron then?

For a real positivity thread, I shall give some real positivity:

I adore the art, particularly the backgrounds. They remind me of fantasy oil paintings. The sprites are so cute, and I love that we get a free costume for each class rank we decide to take. Really looking forward to those premium eye colors too (current ones look kinda lifeless. O.O) This is also one of the rare games where I don’t have to always turn the music off because it irritates me. The game from an artistic standpoint is really well done.

IMC themselves? I think they are trying and are understaffed at the moment possibly. At least they are getting bug fixes cranked out even if they aren’t huge yet, perhaps we will see a big maintenance soon.
