oh bro… another person that think this game look like Legend of Mana than RO!
the companion pet system… the helper system that like another npc hero tag along… the memorable music…
and yeah hope ToS doesn’t ruin our great expectation
Legend of Mana has the most similar art style and gameplay to ToS. It’s just beautiful, especially the BGM in the homebase.
It definitely shares a lot with Legend of Mana, also an old favorite of mine. The only thing that kept it from becoming the perfect game was the unpolished battle system IMO (I’m looking at you, invincibility frames >_>). But yeah, even the plot is similar xD.
@KrizzLaKrizz ikr!
i hope there’s many variant of pet too! must collect them all!
@Erokhi yep, i really love the art style and the way ToS deliver it. I’m very excited to try it!
ahh yes, that home base BGM. Legend of Mana BGM are really neat and always match the scene and the scenery.
@Greensburg yea! world tree and everything it’s very similar. and also there’s Mana Spirit.
i like the plot too, the story progression always make me curious what would happen next and that’s make it interesting!
looks like i should try legend of mana
You must try it. It’s an old PSX RPG, so you probably can play it via PSX Emulator.
The art style, the map, the towns, cities, characters, musics, all of them are just adorable. There are a lot of skills as well, depends on what weapon you choose to equip. The combat system is active, similar to Star Ocean 1 & 2 combat system.
I loved Legend of Mana …and how broken the spear was xD , sadly my savefile got corrupted and i didn’t have the heart to make another.
But if you think about it , ToS is like one of Vanillaware’s works, glorious 2.5D Graphics , with great animations.
I think he has the certain nostalgia of RO, but I believe this game intends to make it’s own pave way in the mmo world
Uh-oh…
(More characters here lalalaaaaa)
in my opinion this game is more like Secret of the solstice another game compared to RO but i played both for a while both are very diffrent
so do i. I need this game
If anything, as far as the controls go, they are extremely reminiscent to final fantasy crystal chronicles, a 4player co-op action rpg that I loved the heck out of. Don’t remember how many times I went through that game with my friends, but it never ceased to be engaging.
And it’s one of the main reasons I’m hyped for this game.
How the game is played is a core aspect. RO played absolutely nothing like this and I was shocked when they mentioned in a blog that they are testing “mouse controls”. I mean seriously? This late in the development with the intended controls in place for a long time, they actually gave in to all the whiny people who want to play RO instead of this? /facepalm
But okay, it’s just an alternative and probably won’t make them have to adjust everything etc.
But I hope they don’t waste too much time to try pleasing nostalgia-blind people who can’t forget RO for good.
I realize the “oh lel spiritual successor to my old addiction” is a main source of people eager to play, but it really gets annoying at times…
you do know using a keyboard to play a game that’s meant for controllers absolutely suck right? , even if say it can be reconfigured, the amount of button to press , especially for a game like this, is a lot, and not everybody can play like that.
And not everybody has a decent controller.
