ToS A new ragnarok?

It’s more like the visual style is similar to RO which gives us reminsince.

It think you’re mistaking design and artstyle.

The designs of ToS are certainly not RO like as the picture points out. But the fact that the artstyle is 2D, the backgrounds are 3D is a huge RO like feel.

So while the design of the game is not like RO from Characters, costumes, monsters it certainly has a RO art feel with it being an isometric 2D/3D hybrid that uses sprites as opposed to 3D models.

Naturally the devs over the last 15 years have gotten a lot of different inspirations from tons of other media. Korea has changed a lot from 15 year ago.

@Karjalainen, this is awesome!

But I didn’t say it was a reference to RO. What I meant is that they got really talented artists, and the character “cuteness” remains. Similar style, like @Erokhi said.

Come fast … come hard!

Chill, the game is gonna be ready soon

I don’t think so…TOS seems much better!

But it reminds me a lot =)

tree of savior is not ragnarok and wont be it. I also played much ro and loved it, but I would not want this ragnarok, I would like to have the same feeling as I had with ragnarok, but I dont want this as RO clone or remake.

Hello! I’ve been playing RO for a very long time and the game influenced me a lot. I spent tons of hours having fun and I think that saying: STOP YOUR RO COMPARISON!!!111 is just unfair. I believe that game-makers should take all positive aspects of RO into TOS. The success of Ragnarok Online was especially because of its social aspect. The game rewarded you for finding a party, find a guild. If not for getting better gear /leveling faster/ being able to visit harded locations. Furthermore I believe that as few people already wrote in this topic: system of WoE was the most entertaining. For instance: on the private server I’ve been playing on, there used to be 500-600 people active during normal day, however at WoE the numbers were peeking up to 2000! The competitive system the game introduced kept so many people for so many years! It is not something we should throw easily, don’t You think?

sure just wait some days and watch the train going and you will maybe know what most people mean :black_joker:

its not an RO remake/remade/reborn or what so ever =_="
its a new game… fresh from the oven =V come on guys dont compare this to RO or put elements of RO to it… it will just become a shadow of a legendary MMO if that will happen… itlle be called a rip-off/spin-off/copy-cat/wana-be/trying-hard-become RO… thats just wrong and a bad habit

so… if somehow a new 2.5D game shows up like ToS and we’ll call it a RO remake? tis a bad thing to do and makes the new forced to become RO =V i dont want that…

the contents of ToS is defrent from RO… maybe some few aspects but not all… stop the comparison!

all i can say is it has that RO aura! but its not RO… its ToS! =_="

There is nothing wrong in comparing, gentlemen! We won’t be younger, the game for sure is going to be different but you can’t just put a bag on your memory and say: look! Something new! Each of us has an ideal pattern for an MMO game. For me and for lots of people I believe, it was Ragnarok. So comparing these two titles is just natural

I will be more then happy if the game follows a few aspects of RO, not because “it was RO”, but becuase it was hell of a game, which brought milions of people to play it over the years.

As far as I could see during CBT, game is much single-player focused than a real MMO experience. However I hope it is just because it needs balancing on those basic levels of gameplay/classes/skills, leaving room for improvement in that matter in the future.

Regards, fellow Toasters

The game has the aesthetic of Ragnarok, of an isometric view overlooking characters, a key difference being the monsters aren’t drawn, they are 3D, and the background seems to give a very “drawn” aesthetic. Ragnarok had a more noticeable 3D background, with 2D detailed characters (Like ToS) and Monsters (Unlike ToS). The game seems to play similar with a few key differences. 1. The game looks slower, 2. There’s a larger focus on questing, 3. The map looks like it’s story progressive (you are lead through the world), where as Ragnaroks was more open world (go wherever you like). However it still seems to hold some of that RO class spirit, possibly difficulty? with so many levels, and hopefully a community which can rival RO back in the day~

the character arent “drawn” either, they also 3D :sunglasses:

wait a minute they actually teamed up with Falcom?! the god-studio of adventure games! If they can team up again I want Adol and Legend of Heroes collab!!!

My point is that they give a highly detailed 2D effect from their aesthetic. They LOOK somewhat 2D, even though they aren’t. There is a clear contrast between the background and the monsters/characters.

I agree with you in that point, they want on purpose that it looks 2D so, yeah.

And that’s what exactly makes this game a 2.5D.
