The reason why TOS has terrible player retention is because of unbalanced difficulty. Level 1-200 the quest bosses are too damn easy and doesn’t pose any challenge. If the boss AI is a little bit challenging then newbies and solo players will have an incentive to play the game. On the other hand, end game dungeons and bosses are too damn hard and requires a party to finish and we all know TOS has terrible optimization so when there are a lot of people in the screen the game lags and pisses off the players.
NO. Fix all the issues first. A year or two until R9 i don’t really care how long.
JUST. FIX. THE GAME. FIRST.
-They can remove hats and some mandatory items from low level areas like starting map or the infamous galoks.
- Make rank 8 content dropping more silvers than the low levels and reduce by 3 or 4 income from low levels so people won’t annoy new players anymore.
- REMOVE IMMUNE BANHAMMERS from tp buyers rampaging and openly cheating.
- ROLLBACK accounts that abused 100+ gems in the harvest exploit worth of months of uphill defense maybe?
-A total overhaul without misleading or below google translate of the skills description will help certainly.
-Show for every class or spell synergy such as peltasa + rodelero + murmillo all self buff strike damage etc.
-Animations for melee such as swordmen should be INSTANT or 1 second max for non channelling spells but in tree of savior they decided to be “original”.
-Forbid macro, or afk farmers definitely like almost 100% western mmos.
-Change taoist and elementalist spells that extinguish and troll pyromancers. - Create a daily dungeon system that already exists in some games where you cannot choose the dungeon and no level range but the loot you"re focus only and add standards level like 200 pvp.
- Ban chat and forced log out and banned days people like goldsellers spamming the same wall of text several times a minutes.
- CHANGE the ■■■■■■■ colour of c3 linker lifeline so people don’t misunderstand with physical link that was NEVER FIXED
-Augment sever capacity in Saalus for example
-Make the compensations the same worldwide and not 1 tome 1 reset only when korean get 20 tomes and 5 resets at the same time, it happened a lot of times already - Bring the best idea of western mmo the diminishing returns, so after getting a crowd control in pve or pvp you are immune for 3sec, and not 20 seconds disable
We could go on forever but they just don’t give a ■■■■ and are ready to unplug because western audience “refuses” to support them.
even though this is true, the recent patch with 10% additional defense per rank makes it much easier to deal with r8 content by yourself.

Disliked it. I disagree almost in everything.
Also too much bans and rollback accounts for a game that already dont have much players. Not to mention that the afk farmes and afk potion makers will continue, making this bans a hypocrisy.
People dont stop because bots, RMT, or something, they stop because get annoyed by game experience, such as LAG, Limited Events, Long Waitings on queue, and others things.

let rush R9 and find out how lazy the developer are, which you need +10 and lv10 transcend to do dmg, and top tier armour to survive
developer will never able to keep up with player who could spend 6 hrs a day in TOS, and making you grind forever with RNG is not the way to keep a game long life but more the other way round
there are tons of issues need to be address before some big patch like new rank, when those old one are completely out of balance

They should fire their devs and they need actual devs not artists. All we have is costumes for God’s sake. Rank 9 wont save a game beyond salvation.

To rersolve the cancer IMC should 1st of all remove the Archer classes.
Archer classes are the total cancer of the game, they get damage&evasion without even putting effort into the game, ks you 24/7, interrupt you during party play, mooch all your heals because they’re paupers not spending a dime on pots, dragging the bosses all over the place because they get aggro 24/7 and then they’re arrogant af.
Especially those noob Quarrelshooter builds that hit for x1000s every hit just by holding one button pressed or those SRs with their Retreat Shot dragging around the mobs, making tactic gameplay nearly impossible.
The game should’ve gotten a damagelimit per hit of like 2k(autohits)-5k(skillhits) and given some chosen special skills like Snipe a higher limit. I think the current way the game is is making the game unplayable because some classes fare way better in being antisocial grobbers than others, especially those overpowered Archers.
Lower damage,aspd,increase A.I. level so that monsters target “damagedealers” 1st[ not just by collecting more hatred (and thus dieing before getting the chance to hit anything in the 1st place)], remove the nobrainer skills that always deal maximum damage when you press a button; every class should have to utilize tactical gameplay to maximize damage. Also, why are there so many skills that can’t hit flying monsters?
How about restricting more skills to hit only flying monsters(especially Archer&Swordman skills) so that not only magic users have to suffer from flying mobs?
There are so many cancerous mechanics in this game that even a cancerous Rank 9 thrown at you in some months isn’t going to help.
The game stops being fun if you can’t do anything while in a party because IMC broke/fked up everything on some classes/skills, making people grow xxl e-penises and treat you like a walking pot/support slave while you won’t even get one kill. GG, you got TOSsed around by IMC 
You really think releasing new classes will let the game last longer?
It will just raise hype which will decay over time, after all jumping from rank 7 to 8 didnt stabilize ToS at all.
There are other much more important things to do.
Bug fixes would be a great start.
Rebalance for some underwhleming classis would be great, aswell as an overhauled class introduction that will help players understand what classes theyre picking, just to avoid people whining after class reset over and over until they quit.(yes we just had one, but that doesnt stop players from whining after more)
Just releasing new classes is not much attractive to new players which ToS is in big need of. You cant just focus on the old players to keep a game alive.
Lol archers dont even get top dps in rank 8 though the part of them of consuming heals is true. Not sure what you’re talking about in the rest of your post. Are you sure this is rank 8? This is like a rank 5 problem to be honest.
The broken one is cleric. Diev miko pd / inquisitor can solo fantasy library, uphill, saalus, rank 8 maps with ease with low sp consumption and can heal themselves. kakaka

This is more or less spot on considering the issues are far more extensive than listed here quite a lot to sort through but i think each issues here touches on a larger issue.
In the current digital age we live in for many western consumers some “oversights” are just unforgivable. For instance gross texture/terrain glitches or complex hard to understand game mechanics. Lack of ingame guides.
This is largely because of the ease of access to powerful programming/texture editing tools that make most all of this in a one shot stop in the west. We also have standards for a reason as many developers almost outright try to steal your money in the west. ToS’s case is more complex.
You see Western audiences see this as a lack of development. I like ToS and i still play ToS but i can suspend these ideals and understand if i want to play this game i will have to work harder at it than i do other games to attain enjoyment out of it.
Do i get mad when i accidentally take an extra rank of a skill that i have to pay money to reset or go Str when Dex is the only real option because of endgame scaling/tooltips that aren’t clear. The answer is yes of course i do and i get over it however but that comes at a cost. The cost is when do i say enough is enough. Its a game developers job to make sure these sorts of things don’t happen.
Furthermore everything™© in a game leads to it’s gradual success or failure to ignore or blatantly neglect any single aspect of a game means that is now a burden you pass onto your consumer base.
You see i can compartmentalize the Korean landscape the aspects that went into developing this game and know there are unique hurdles they have as a Korean developer in a US market. I also know the lack of care and work that has been put into this game. Some instances are excusable they are an indie team after all working on an MMO title however other issues seem like simple fixes or simply major oversights.
All i know is at the end of the day i enjoy the game i think its special i think its unique and i never take it seriously.
But even for me if they push too far or infringes on me playing too much i too will stop playing everyone has their cutoff point.
I have found a lot of fun in this title but even for me it is not always easy to play often relating to issues you listed above.

TOS doesn’t need ranks, it needs fixes, it needs balances, it needs contents.
People who quit but still check on the updates from time to time come back when a lot of things are fixed (a.k.a when IMC finally decides to bring us to kTOS fix level, 6 months later), but they just keep getting disappointed everytime because maintenances bring nothing.
This game is poorly managed, it’ll never get new players or keep them if it stays like that.
New ranks are absolutely unrelated to it.
You can release 100 ranks, if there’s nothing to do in-between the ranks and the game is full of bugs and issues then the people will never stick to it.
And it truly is a shame because this game is beautiful and could be amazing af.
I would like all of IMC’s efforts to go into optimization before anything else, but most the remaining players want more content of some form or another. The thing is, hardcore players are always going to run into that end-of-content barrier. If Blizzard, makers of World of warcraft, can’t keep that crowd pleased, then how do you expect IMC to be able to do so?
Game needs fixin’. Ya’ll can worry about contents afterwards.
And i think they should not break the game with every maintenance
