Whenever I see people using Red Gems on their gears, I assume they’re just old gears (pre-gem change) that they just kept, and made proper gems on a different set of gears on a different character
I’ll only believe that if it’s not roasted (Lv6+). That’s [old] gear for me.
Besides, Lv5 Yellow Gem is dirt cheap and gives 50 P.Def, 2 of that is 100 already + the modifier from Aspersion (Lv16/17) which a lot of Pardoners have.
EDIT: Heck even Lv4 Yellow Gem would improve your P.Def so much more than donning more HP through Red Gem, it’s nearly inexcusable at this point. If one argues they are of the “low level variant”, you need more P.Def at lower levels than you would at later ones.

For my beloved wugu with 60 invested CON:
Pdef: 1100
Mdef: 1000
No asper and no nuaeles. I also have +3 Hasta plate boots with 2/2 lv6 blues chiling in storage. All gotten from Blut cube and cancer cube the WR. I’ll try to update on otter alts cuz I can’t remember right meow.

All values non asper’d and non nuaele’d, and all mishekan lv
For Pure CON Kabba Inqui:
Pdef: 1377
Mdef: 1244
For 53 invested CON Druid Inqui:
Pdef: 1171
Mdef: 950
So yeah, pretty much if you’re too pleb like me, get hastas, plus I think it looks better than sol/lolos.
I use Cafrisun with a bunch of lv5 gems on my newb alts, even though it’s leather,works like a charm
