With the new command /comeon and the option to turn autoattack on/off on the pet, Hunter life has definitely gone from bad to OK. Here’s why:
-
When using skills that locks the pet to a target/location (e.g. Coursing), you can cancel what the pet is doing by using
/comeon(put this in a macro [F8] shortcut). The pet still does remain in that spot even if the target already died so you need to get used to using the macro now. -
Open F9 (companion window) and set autoattack off. This will make your pet just follow you around. I know the patch mentioned this doesn’t apply to Hunters (pet will always aggro) but it seems to work for us as well.
-
Haven’t thoroughly tested it yet (and I’m not sure if setting autoattack off is helping it) but it seems the pet will now properly use skills on the enemy/objects the player is targetting. Only tested on mouse mode. Maybe it works even better on keyboard mode’s target lock.
-
Put
/cpattackon and/cpattack offin other macro shortcuts for convenience. This will toggle companion autoattack on/off. They really should have just made or added a single toggle slash command (e.g./cpattack toggle) instead of these two.
##Room for improvement
The issue with the pet stuck in skill duration even if the target is already dead is still there.
While the /comeon command helps, that was really more of a solution to a long existing problem to all players with companions getting randomly stuck behind especially with the slow zero-stamina movespeed (except mounted classes).
IMC still has sh*t to do regarding the skill stuck issue.
In TBL, pet stamina should be refilled/resetted to full as well before every match. A lot of other classes with core skills that has very long CDs are really having it great with the CD reset, why not give companions some love too?
There are still a lot of other things about the Hunter class that needs attention but those have already been covered by other threads.
