I’m not really sure how cities will work in this game since i only saw Klaipeda, but i would like something like a nice place to meet, do business and chat with other players, like it was on RO. Different cities where people could hang out and no single path/line map .i couldn’t find anything from cbt about it. What are you thoughts on that?
There’s only like 3 towns which are pretty far apart from each other.
http://www.tosbase.com/game/world-map/ - Might wanna check this out.
is that official? it seams like a on line map to me
Towns/cities might be my favorite part of a game.
I love hanging around, chatting with other players, stocking up on items, taking a rest from that one, intense boss battle… Oh my.
The page isn’t official, but the map’s shown by Kiyoshiro is real and it was taken by TOSBase from the official site. So you can trust that map.
All games have a central hub for where everyone meets up, does business, the favourite city of sorts.
What worries me most is that the map looks like something that I would call a story progressive map. Where it hand holds you through the game, leading you on a very linear routine from harder monsters to harder monsters as you go through the game. Unlike Ragnarok Online, which multiple people have stated grants so much freedom to explore and really feels like a living breathing world. Where the levels and distinctions between difficult and easy maps are a bit more blurred and it’s not such a streamlined game. An explorers utopia. I hope the cities and maps cater to this, and I really hope I’m wrong and it grants more freedom and experimentation than I first gathered…
damn i was really hopping it was not official. what are your thoughts on this map?
I know what my objective in the CBT is now. To explore closed dungeon 108
hehehehehehe why so?
Idk, it seems like the Very Definitive Final Dungeon. Of course it’s an MMO so…I’m aware that can change
Btw that pile of craniums around the top looks very suspicious, since it isn’t selectable.
I personally think there should be more cities/towns. 3 more cities would be nice because players need huge places to hang out and AFK. lol
Btw don’t forget that there are some small villages spread around the map.
I personally like the layout. You can easily run into a high leveled map because they neighbor lower leveled ones.
I plan to spend most of my time in a town doing nothing
I mean…When you think about it, the only reason RO (or WoW, also) ended up with a non-linear map is because there were so many starting cities. I also would like it to be more jumbled up, but it wouldn’t really make much sense story-wise. Since the closer you get to the tree, the more powerful evil there is. So I can see why they did it. ToS is just more story-driven from the start. Which is…eh… but, oh well.
tha’ts exactly how i feel. thanks for sharing
I just hope not everyone piles into a single (beginning) city (im looking at you, henesys).
i like the idea of a non linear map, since its a mmo and creating your own story is important. i understand the story driven part, but there are ways to mix both like setting several main cities like in RO and putting the tree far away from all or in the center of the map like if people were separated when the tree appeared and then the other cities were build
Yeah. I wonder if that’s how they’ll expand the map later, though. Like in an array around the center.
I have to admit, I joined RO in 2004, and it was released in 2001 for the beta. I never saw the original Ragnarok online map, I might’ve missed a single expansion or so. If ToS is given 3 more cities in an expansion that looks somewhat similar to this, just alongside it, doubling the size of the map… Maaaaaaaaaybe It will offer a bit more freedom… Honestly I don’t understand why MMO’s are so willing to become story driven, when no one is a main character of an epic tale when there’s 10,000 people doing the same quest and it’s never going to be closed ended because the game has to continue. I’d rather if they just went Dark Souls/Ragnarok Online style (yes I am a fanboy) and just let the lore hunters piece it together through various interactions, and force the players to turn on their brains and find the story within the world, than go Offline JRPG mode and run through it like a final fantasy game. Sorry… Slightly rant-ish…
I would think in the future they will expand and have new areas and cities, but would like for them to learn from the first RO because, sure there were a ton of cities but eventually there would be this central hub. Would be cool if they would keep the cities to the bare minimum and have The tree of savior in the center the main hub?
