Thought about dagger/off-hand damage weapon

IMO what is the point of using sword/spear + dagger?

  1. 2 handed weapon deal more damage.
  2. Sub weapon phy damage does not add onto main weapon damage.
  3. Sub weapon use when press “C”.
  4. If main-hand deal 100, and off-hand deal 50. rotating keypress ZCZCZC is stupid, because attack-speed is almost the same as i hold Z and it’s higher damage.

Is there any dev to clarify why dagger is so underrated?

Elemental attacks add up… on each additional atk.

That’s how chaplains can have 5 attacks worth an overall 4~5k per full auto hit combo.

^^

Sub Weapon adds damage to your physical attacks too~

And elemental attacks are:

  • 150 arde fire damage
  • 40 from sacrament, second attack
  • 10 ish from cafrisun, third attack

For example.
This would give you two extra attacks.
Which both would do 200 damage. Add blessing to it… it’s 370 now.
And each elemental attack gets added into that.

But be careful.

Elemental attk and additonal elemental attack are two different kinds~
One stacks on all of them.
The other stacks on all of them and creates an extra attack.

What about those dagger with no element attack?

Add physical attack to your main attack. Secondary attacks are just the damage you do when pressing c xD.

A crossbow + a dagger= 400+150 damage as weapon damage.

^^

Same for Spear + Dagger?

So If, say, I’m a Hoplite 3. I use a spear + dagger, what would the benefit of that be over having a shield? I don’t see it giving me additional damage when switching in between the two. Just curious, as I just use shield instead since I don’t see anything different when I swap to dagger.

still waiting for this to be answered, having the same thoughts aswell… well as what foxy said, daggers with no element and just physical atks adds up onto your physical overall dmg, such as Skills and AA’s… I dunno if I understand it correctly.

dont know about melee but on range it doesnt add any damage.

tested on monster deal 627 with lv 120 dagger 620 with shield 610 without shield

so conclusion - no additional damage given to range attacks. 610-627 came mostly from min-max atk of my main weapon (676-699)

Having a purely physical damage dagger on offhand does not change your primary weapon damage unless you’re corsair C2 with the Double Weapon Assault buff (with that you get to attack with both weapons at once).

The advantage of having a (pure physical dmg) dagger off-hand is the fact daggers deal pierce damage when you use C attack. So it gives you versatility if you use sword / mace as primary. No real advantage for when you use spear as primary. Yes you can flip your mace/sword to spear to deal pierce damage instead of wearing a dagger, but not every class can use spears.

Using a 2h spear gives you better damage, yes. But you need either Cataphract or Dragoon to equip one, that’s the drawback.

Daggers are quite useful for STR/DEX cleric classes (paladin or monk) that lack the option of having a pierce weapon. Those classes can usually self-heal easily so the lack of the defense from a shield is not a big issue PvM wise.

Sub weapons are mainly for the additional benefits, unless you are a class that actually requires a sub like Corsair or a shield class, 2handed is better imo.
But some subs gives really really good stats/buffs.

So basically, if I use 1h spear with arde dagger. Elemental dmg will add to my z attack ? Or not at all unless I press c? Any try this b4?

This is so stupid … they just destroy itemization with this …
