So I kind of skimmed through the forums, more precisely the General Discussion and can see the amount of disappointment which is understandable. I just want everyone who is reading this to know that i’m not attempting to complain, but rather add to the list of concerns which (may or may not) have been mentioned yet,
Some of my concerns are as follows:
- Lack of proactive support for general issues (server wide)
The amount of bugs, lagspikes, framerate issues, translation flops, and ultimately the failure to address these issues is a big red flag for me.
It’s easy to gloss over these complaints and say ‘well they’re getting to it’ but from the prospective viewpoint these issues that have directly to do with the functionality, and playability of the game should be their number one priority right now. In my opinion this was a tough call to make because of what I will mention as my next point.
The easiest fix for this is to make a list of priorities and during each patch list the issue that received the most level of complaints via consensus (since I know there are workers who keep an eye on the forums), and approach the issue based on weighing the time-sensetivity, necessity, or demand of the community. That is what making money is about, however the product has to have quality and the only way to do that is to organize, and listen to the concerns and complaints. Assess the issues and BE proactive.
- Steam release issues, convoluted execution of monetization
The issue I take with the Steam release was pretty much the cherry on top for me. Aside from all the poorly prepared-for server traffic issues, they had bugs that were glaring them in the face such as quests being unresponsive due to high traffic, waiting a whole 24 hours before anything could have been done to alleviate the problem, etc.
The cash shop system is a total and complete mess. While I acknowledge that they are preparing a in-game system to be able to purchase directly for our TP, I think it’s ridiculous that they are implementing Steam as their primary source of monetization when they had all through kCBT, naCBT to establish the cash shop in-game. As an MMORPG this should be one of the most important, if not THE most important content of the game because the company who hosts the game also wants to make money.
Personally I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it has taken them this long to establish a decent, functioning cash shop, which is the norm for many MMORPG players and has others who don’t frequent Steam in a complete confusion.
What I want to point out is that they had the resources to make this NOT as convoluted as it has turned out to be. Steam “cash shop”, unprepared content (i.e. Team Battle, at one point Guild option, etc).
Id like to cut it short to these two points since iv’e made more of a commentary essay than a list of complaints but what I say still stands.
They have their own website, their own launcher, and they have/had a huge number of anticipated followers ready to support them. The amount of positivity they were receiving and having been given the benefit of the doubt they have thus far not done enough to justify such a terrible start for what is considered by majority to be a game with immense potential.Z
