Its different but not inherently better. I tried both and I can say confidently that giving up 13% DPS from DoV for High Guard/100% uptime on Guardian and better Swash is a debatable trade at best. In PvP situations Pelt2 isn’t going to save you from Lancers, Clerics, or Wizards and its a detriment in HG. Might be nice in Velcoffer Nest though.
Also not sure why this guide is suggesting lv5 Spear Throw and Gae Bulg over more points in pierce/dragon tooth respecitvely. Spear Throw becomes essentially useless by the time you hit dragoon and should be kept at 1 for a utility bind skill. Gae Bulg’s set up is obnoxious and burns 5 skill points that could add further damage to Dragon Tooth.
I use the same builds with different stat allocation. Give or take mordschlag I just have it for a bit of fun and PvP utility. Cyclone will drop off late game so its not a big deal to take level 4.
