Theory Crafting + Build Compendium

Yes this was just a quick update to add something like that I’ll keep improving it and you have a very nice reference there

What I already had on my list was: Like Builds, Add Builds to Favorites.

I also thought about adding comments but wasn’t sure if that’s a good idea or not. I’ll add more information to the overview, too. Atleast the choosen classes, not too sure about the skills because this could be a bit too much as we have soo many of them but we’ll see.

@Flash Comments is always good, it gives a chance to ask the build creator why they make certain decisions and so it’s easier to understand a build, sometimes it’ll even help create a better build

And yes that website is a great reference, and I would love to see something similar for ToS. If anyones gonna do it, it’s definitely you guys so best of luck and looking forward to how it goes

hmm well i hope anyone hassnt made this yet XD but bah! anything is possible
ive already made my build but somehow found somthing strage in swordsman class

questions:1st. why is it have too much overpowered skills(not that i saw other classes)? hmm but maybe its just initial skill and will be nerfed soon XD
2nd. is there any weapon restriction(this addressed to peltesta like 1handwepshield to 2handed weapon) ?
3rd. is the skill points aquired from past rank can be used in the next rank? expale: rank 2 skill points save for 3rd rank…

well… when i re-builded my dream build XD… here i fix some(already posted my build on the other thread)…

…swordsman->peltesta->barbarian->barbarian->barbarian->Doppelsoldner
build name:“WARRIOR”
skills and name:
1st rank: lvl 5 thrust, lvl5 bash, lvl5 concentrate (i hate gung ho cause ittle decrease deff)
2nd rank: lvl 5 guardian=remaining points=10 (this is why i address the question if i can retain my skill points for next rank)
3rd rank: lvl 5 embowel, lvl 5 frenzy, lvl 5 savagery =remaining skill points 10
4th rank: lvl 10 embowel, lvl 10 frenzy, lvl 5 stomping kick =remaining skill points 10
5th rank: lvl 10 stomping kick, lvl 5 giant swing, lvl 5 pouncing =remaining skill points 10( realy, ill spend it for the last XD)
6th rank: lvl 5 punish, lvl 5 pain barier, lvl 5 mordschlag(finisher maybe), lvl 5 douple play, lvl 5 cyclone (skill points well spent >_<")

build description: its a solo build… balanced with fire power and defensive power! it may look weak but thats just for me XD…

main stats going to be mainly Vit,str, and dex…
that is all @_@"

note:inline with the 2nd rank… it maybe hard to level for next ranking… but it the reward is awesome for last =D

2nd: It’s display as part of the tooltip. See Kneeling Shot of Archer etc.
3rd: You can keep skill points only if you stay the same class (Upgrading Circle) so a 2nd Circle Swordsman can use Skill Points he had as Circle 1 Swordsman. Currently this is not possible with our Skill Simulator as we found out about this recently but it will be fixed in the new version and has not a too big impact on most skill builds afaik.

so for short i CANT keep my stored skill points for my next rank… but can be used in my lower rank skills? =/ shame. its a scrap build then…

that guardan skill is nice cause concentration counters the negative effect of guarding… further more… other skills of swordsman class (description wise) is already overpowred… so taking a defensive skill and stat is not bad too IMHO

A guy posted in the forums asking for help regarding a solo-grinder soul-linker and soon-to-be alchemist. After I made him a build, I figured I’d post it here aswell (I’ll post a few less-detailed ones here later too).

Gem Linker

Rank 1 (skill max is 5 but says 15 for some reason, just ignore it)

  • Max out Energy Bolt and Lethargy to maximize damage output.
  • One level to sleep should give you some time to cast during fights
  • Reflect shield is a must have for a solo grinder.
  • I’d recommend EB > LE > RS > SL > EB (4x) > LE (4x) > RS (3x) as for
    upgrade order.

Rank 2

  • Again, max out energy bolt

  • No need to enhance Lethargy for now

  • Earthquake is a must in order to combo with Linker’s skills

  • Surespell is another must for these type of classes

  • Here what you’d like is EQ > SS > EB (5x) > EQ (4x) > RS (2x) > SS

Rank 3

  • Here you’ll notice there are 4 unused skill points. You’ll want to
use them to lvl up Lethargy from Rank 2 and make it 9/10 (but not at
first), considering it will be possible to level up lower class
    skills.

  • Unbind will probably be the unlock-the-rest skill (if not, 1 point to
    it anyway)

  • Max out Joint Penalty and Hangman’s Knot to maximize damage output

  • Give 1 skill point to Physical Link because it’s pretty situational
yet not necessary for your type of playstyle

  • JP > HK > UB > PL > JP (4x) > HK (4x) > LE (4x)

Rank 4

  • Here you’ll notice you’ll have 4 unused skill points again

  • 1 point to Lethargy (leaving it at 10/10)

  • Either use the rest to enhance your protection (Reflect Shield). to
enhance casting protection (Surespell, if you experience too much
casting), or to party-related skills for PVP later on.

  • Max out Joint Penalty and Hangman’s Knot to maximize damage output

  • Give 1 skill point to Spiritual Chain because again, it’s very
    situational

  • SC > JP > HK > JP (4x) > HK (4x) > Your choice

Rank 5

  • Here you’ll also notice you have 4 unused skill points, at this point
you can spend them anywhere you want. I’d recommend Spiritual Chain
and Umbilical Cord for PVP porpuses.

  • 1 point to Umbilical Cord because situational

  • Max out Joint Penalty and Hangman’s Knot to maximize damage output

Rank 6 (Alchemist)

  • At this point I’d go for whatever I chose (“blacksmith” or
alchemist). In this case, it will be a blacksmith.

  • Since this build is for grinding and killing a lot of enemies at
once, you’ll be pretty useless with only your wizard skills to help
you out against the monster if you do Item Awakening, so I wouldn’t
suggest going for that road (max lvl is 1, according to skill
    simualtor).

  • Gem Roasting 5 because gems are truly outrageous. They are truly,
    truly, truly outrageous

  • Magnum Opus 5 because minecraft crafting babyyyyyyyyy

  • Briquetting 5 because weapons

  • I’m not sure if Dig will be necessary, since it says “Dig to obtain
ore for Alchemiy” (depends on what you’ll use ore in and how the
skill scales, but we don’t have that kind of information at the
    moment)

  • Tincturing is for potion making and I’d assume you’d get better
potions according to how high the skill level is. No point in trying
to be both a blacksmith and a alchemist, otherwise you’ll end up
    being non-sucessful at both.

  • Combustion appears to be battle-related, so I wouldn’t mind that
unless you’d want a battle alchemist (why).

I made another theory craft on doppelsoldner that may seem to be a very use-able class for soloists.

Here’s my Barbarian/Doppelsoldner build: Click here!
Class Path: Swordsman > Swordsman > Barbarian > Barbarian > Barbarian > Doppelsoldner

A short description of this build
Nothing but self-buffs for a one-click lazy solo player.

Pros of this build

  • Very straight forward, easy to play
  • High Damage
  • Easily one of the highest DPS class when paired with a Chronomancer with skill Quicken
  • Not as SP(or MP) reliant compared to other classes

Cons of this build

  • No strategy (Boring)
  • May require constant weapon repairs*
  • Not a good party class due to lack of AOE
  • Low defense
  • Cannot survive and probably can’t kill in PvP either.

*Whilst leveling, if durability drops really fast, on Rank 4 I will go Squire and learn Repair/Weapon & Armor Maintenance

Skills Taken and why

  1. Thrust 4/10
Skill used for easier leveling during the lower levels.

  2. Bash 1/10
Filler skill during CD of Thrust.

  3. Gung Ho 10/10
Self buff for Damage, sacrificing defense in exchange.

  4. Concentrate 10/10
A skill every swordsman will take; boost in damage without sacrificing anything.

  5. Pommel Beat 5/5
Skill used for easier leveling during the lower levels. Can ignore a partial defense of Small to Medium sized monsters.

  6. Frenzy 15/15
Attack power will increase after each main attack (I do not know what is main attack, if melee hits, yay! If not, I don’t know yet.)

  7. Aggressor 15/15
This increases your hit chance (accuracy) in exchange for critical evasion. This skill can be the cause of your death against bosses with OP damage and, a critical. Thankfully, this isn’t a passive but a buff. Use only when required (such as grinding mobs higher than your own level and you start missing your hits).

  8. Savagery 15/15
This changes your attack type to “pierce”. I do not know how this works exactly, but if there are changes in damage modifiers when using an “attack type” against specific “type” of mobs, this skill is your gem. If there are ways to boost “pierce type” damages, this will further enhance the usefulness of this skill.

  9. Deeds of Valor 5/5
Increases attack speed. This is the skill this skill build revolves around. -

  10. Pain Barrier 5/5
This skill prevents you from being pushed back/fall. Useful, for sure.

  11. Double Pay Earn 5/5
This skill increases experience/loots when “overkilling” mobs. If you do not want this skill, you can take cyclone instead.

Hope you guys liked it!

My Girlfriend Build is the third most viewed build on the site HAHA

Just added a new build called Reflect + Statue Monk:

This will most likely be my primarly build, unless CBT 3 adds more ranks, then it’s quite possible I may switch.

This is the most optimal build for me.

Rank 1:

Cleric, I picked heal obviously, maxed for most tiles.

Cure for debuff, but also for early level damage.

Deprotected zone to deal more damage to bosses.

Why not Safety Zone? It’ll be replaced by iron cloth and golden bell on monk later.

Rank 2:

Krivis, why? Cleric doesn’t have much appeal anymore besides Divine
Might, and Priest buffs are great… except you can buy all a priests
buffs from a Pardoner later. Krivis is the best choice here:

  1. You can upgrade the amount of buffs everyone can have. This is HUGE! More buffs bb.

  2. HP Regen buff, bring on the grind.

  3. More crit? Crit for life.

Rank 3 + 4. Here is where the OP begins.

Why Dievdirbys:

  1. We got all the utility we need from Krivis.

  2. I just don’t like Bokor.

  3. We skip Paladin because Krivis gives the HP regen, and Monk gives the
defensive abilities, and we don’t need Turn Undead, we can kill
    everything anyway.

Skill choices:

  1. It’s hard to have more than 1 statue up, so I just decided I’d need
the teleport statue (Carve Valkarine), the CD reduction statue (Carve
Laima), and depending on whether it’s grinding or a boss fight, I’d use
the owl statue for grinding, and Austarus Koks for silencing bosses,
    which is beyond amazing.

  2. Carve, because it has 0 CD, welcome to the next level basic attack. And you get wood.

Rank 5. Get ready for max deeps and reflect, welcome to the monk level.

  1. Ironcloth is bread and butter here. Since you can silence bosses now,
you can just sit around in ironcloth and win, especially with hp
regen+all those debuffs for defense and crit you now have.

  2. Double locks hit’s twice, has a low CD (even lower with the statue),
and can be used in conjunction with carve and other monk skills.

  3. Palm of the Goddess, to just break everythings defense, so everythings just weak.

Rank 6, more Monk goodness.

  1. Golden Bell, its the OH ■■■■ button, 5 seconds of invincibility every
30 seconds (lowered by statue too!), you can somewhat cycle it with
iron cloth, we only really need 1 level.

  2. God Finger Flicking, mostly a PvP ranged skill really. CANT GET AWAY FROM A MONK. This can probably be changed.

  3. 1 inch punch, only need 1 level. Exhaust enemy SP? Whatcha gonna do now huh?

  4. Sunray hands, because kamehameha. Great in parties. Solo? No problem! Gather them up, drop an owl statue, and have fun.

Do you have any idea whether OBE is Int-based or Str-based skill ?

hmm so i can save skill points for the same cirlce? lets say swordsman ( still have 5 points) can be use for rank 2 swordman, while as swordsman to peltesta, u cant change rank unless u use all your skill points @_@" is that it? well this is sad T^T

in my build i want to save skill points for the later rank =< if thats not posible well… ill make another build XD

Yes, that is how it appears to work. The main feature of this system is to save points for a skill in the next circle, so that you can max it as soon as you change.

Heads up: The Rank 5 and 6 (that’s 4 for each tree) classes had ALL their skills (c1, c2 and c3) added upon reaching rank 6, for testing purpose in CBT2. This won’t be the case in further testing.

For example, the Oracle class will most likely only be able to access the first 4 (or 5) skills that show up upon reaching Rank 6, and would have to wait until circle 2 (Rank 7) to learn Forecast for example, and circle 3 (Rank 8) for Death Sentence.

hmm does this mean that i can save points for later higher rank? cause right in the skill simulator dopplesoldner is the highest rank i can achieve as swordie

i was planing for swordsman>peltesta>barbarian>barbarian>barbarian>dopple
(peltesta= guardian skill (upping deff lowering attk but can be counter by concentration))

so… do i have to spent all my skill points to peltesa just to proceed to barbarian? (sorry for the repetitive question, just want to make sure XD haha)

Every skill point ist bound to a class. Cleric -> Priest then you won’t be able to spend the saved points for priest skills but only for cleric skills.
